About half a year ago I joined this forum. There was a lot going on, at least 80 active members, projects going on all the time...it was great.
Then Dan 3.0 came along and Dan Brown stopped mentioning us, thus making one of our only source of new members stop. And it's been a slow decline from there. Now days it's just a few members, which most our posting pointless threads about nothing, and the rest either don't care enough or are just trolling.
The admins have nearly completely disappeared, such as the mods (although Zang is still here, but he's not doing much).
This sucks. Bigtime.
Now, we, or I, can't do anything about this really. The moon is not what it was. It probably never will be. It'll probably just disappear until the last member has finally left.
If you see this message, please, please, try to do something about it. If you care about the moon even a little bit. It has changed my life so much, and I'm not just going to let it die now.
And Dan, if you see this, which you probably wont, please try to post somewhere else besides Dan 3.0, and see the potential of this forum, compared to your new project.
Thanks. Let's see what happens.

Sorry Kev... you're like 3 months late.

"you're like 3 months late." Words to live by, aren't they? Excuses, always excuses. You do know that a simple mention can change little, but may also work like CPR? Giving up is not an option. Also, coming back from non-posting just to say that the Moon is inactive and then disappearing again is not that useful either. Have you ever tried to pass the link? This is going to the active members and the founder of SPOTM, *points at the known person* I am talking to everyone I know about this place. I am not pimping my Tumblr and all the other sites with it, but I still mention it, I let people know about our fun conversations on Skype, I explain why I am not going out on Saturdays, they hear it. SPOTM, I am there, I am talking with the SPOTM members, I am advising them, we're being random, we do stuff, we play games. They find it intriguing, but they're not internet people. Still, they want to be added to the Skype Chat one day just to see how it is like. They want to meet those people that keep me home when I could be out there and meet them. So, how exactly are we late? Explain this to me.

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a rats ass"
I'm perfectly ok with not ever getting more members. I don't care either way.

If I were you, I would pay more attention to who posted this thread this time, instead of just looking at the thread as a thread, because yeah, people posted that kind of threads and not only once. This time is not just a thread that will be gone in a couple of days. If we look at the name of the one that did the LoAM and the one that started the thread, we see the same person. Right here we have an active member and not just someone who came back from the dead and tried to make us revolt. Kevin is posting more often than Chelsea, Mashuga and Cameron. Where are they? They posted the threads like this one, but where are they? You can't compare their effort with Kevin's. Instead of complaining about the existence of threads like this, we should all do something to make them have no reason to be around the place, you know, like... Finding people to hold it alive, convince Dan to say our name just once, you know, 5 seconds in a video. Sounds good and easy, doesn't it?

Oh look, this thread. Seems to pop up once a month Yes, and jack SHIRT happens. Why is that? "Frankly my dear, I don't give a rats ass" I'm perfectly ok with not ever getting more members. I don't care either way. You should resign as a moderator. What the hell are you doing here, anyway, if you don't care? You people... *shakes head*

I care about the community. I don't care if we grow

You care for the community, but you also let trolls roam freely.

I never talked about growing. I am talking about finding people to replace the members that decided to depart just like that. The people here are like blood, they need to circulate, move around, be fresh. If we stay like that, eventually we'll slow down and then it'll be too late. I don't want a grand place like Your Pants either. I would like a handful of good active members around here though. How about 30-50 that post eventually? I like finding new posts to read and if I like them, I respond as well. Circulation, not evolution into something as huge as the other place I mentioned. Keep the machine moving, you know?

We're losing members. That's the point. If we have 10 members and we lose 10 members, how many members do we have if we get no new members? We have 0 members.

I care about the community. I don't care if we grow If you had studied basic evolution (which you obviously haven't, since you're only an 8th grader or so), you would've known that for a population of species to evolve and adapt to their surroundings, as well as survive into the future world, there need be an immigration of new individuals, so that the genetic diversity can grow larger, thus strengthening the community so that it can grow more adapted to its habitat and thus helping it survive. You can't say you care for a community if you don't want it to grow or change with time. It lies in a community's nature to grow and become stronger. I should also add there needs to be an emigration of individuals that makes things stagnate.

I think maybe Zang doesn't want this to become and overpopulated and messy forum, but I don't really know. Even so, one thing is to not want it to grow and another is to just let it get smaller and smaller =/

No. You said it wrong, Lyserg. You don't want it to get messy. We don't want it to get messy either. We could use a bunch of members though. It doesn't mean that if 10, 20, 30, 40 even 50(!) people join the place, the Armageddon will arrive at our door. More members will require more staff members, so be it. It's not like we can't handle the big scaaaaary crowd. Don't be afraid.

heck i help maintain a forum with over 1000 active members, sure it gets hectic, but its nothing a team of 5 admins and 20 mods and a few volunteers can't handle. a small team of 30 people can rule over 1000, you are 6 ruling 15... see a problem with the math?

Proportions don't apply with leadership. Less than 3 people and we would have a problem. Even if there are 7 members, you need at least 3 people to lead.
Unless the forum has over 10,000 people, there should be no more than 20 mods.
