Alex, what should have happened doesn't help us right now. You'll probably get your position if we manage to bring more crowd here. Would you advertise more if you were a mod? What's your point here?

I would like to say that I have a unique perspective about things here. I joined after seeing a vid by Dan. I liked his perspective on things, getting the world to think about things. I joined the moon, it was awesome, I became part of the community. Then I realized that in all Dan's preaching against zombies, that he didn't actually hold many non-zombie views. Sure they were different than his parents or his communities, but he would take a stance and stand by it, even when there were good arguments against it and his sole reason for this was that it was his stance. But that's zombieism in a different way.
Unfortunately, that zombieism spread and eventually D3PO started and brought a lot of dan zombies here. So some of the non-zombies here left. And then it became a fan site for a while, and we had an influx of zombies. Then numbers started to decline as D3PO continued and slowly but surely, the site lost its appeal and its zeal that it once had.
But can we blame it on anyone? We once had these great ideas - of ways to help the world. We'd talk about them, some of them we even implemented. Some of them made the world a better place. Lots of them failed, but those who failed often got up and tried again. But as interest in those ideas faded, so did the projects. So did our willingness to do the projects.
Eventually our community got to be about those who were around, and those who knew each other. Newcomers would venture in, peek around for a bit, and often leave as they were not as developed into the community. Others would stay for a long time and become people we know and love. Slowly but surely this place actually did start to resemble the tribes that Dan once spoke about. Very seldom would there be massive arguments, the debates were often held without contempt or emotion wrapped up into them. Everyone was happy, working together, playing games, enjoying themselves. I don't know about everyone else, because I tend to stay in the shadows personally, but I think we reached stage 4 - even if it was just 10-20 of us, maybe even stage 5?
In any case, the goal of the moon was no longer about the world - it was about us. The ones who stayed, the ones who cared not for the moon but for each other. Why stick around? we enjoy each other and how much being a part of this community brings to our lives. When our lives develop, we move on. When newcomers come, we welcome them and let them in (most of the time). So yeah - people left, and lately our numbers have dropped more than they've risen, but I don't think the moon is dead.

We never said that, Ryan. You admitted on your own that we're not as strong as we used to be. Personally, I wasn't here when the big power was revolving around the forums, but I caught a glimpse of it. What we want to say is that our numbers are getting smaller and those that stay here either get a bit inactive or active solely in certain sections or they start wreaking havoc by trolling or posting unnecessary stuff, instead of something that could start a conversation. Do you have any idea for that, or should I get thinking about that as well? I know how to bring new people, fresh blood, so that the place will get less rusty, but do you have any other ideas?

Say Dan were to tweet " HEY! Remember this site? I just want everyone who hasn't checked it out to CHECK IT OUT! [insert SPOTM link here.]"
That would get a crapload of new members... and don't get me wrong, 90% of those members wouldn't care about the moon at all. BUT THE OTHER 10% WILL! That 10% is the Moon last chance for greatness...

There is a link on the D3P0 site that has been there for months. Tons of people see it, and we get barely any members from it. You think a single tweet would send tons of people? 20 at most will sign up.

Jesus! And you guys call ME a troll in training (or, as Swim said, a TiT)...
1. I also tell everyone I know to come here... 24/7. They never come. I keep telling them. Now they hate me. I keep telling them. You can't say I don't try.
2. We always have this conversation. We always fight with each other. We get nowhere. I don't know about you, but I don't care anymore. Srsly, I read like 3 posts, got bored and started to write this. Most of us give ideas to try to change this situation. They never worked. You can't say we didn't try.
3. According to Wikipedia: a fallacy is incorrect reasoning in argumentation resulting in a misconception. If you ask me (which you're not, but I'll say it anyway) that's exactly what you're doing to Zang. Yes, he might be letting us trolls do whatever we want, but then you attack him directly... as a person... Ad Hominem =] Also: you guys are basically saying that without people the moon can't do much... Now read all the other things you're saying. Now back at this. It doesn't make any sense, does it?
4. My avy is a sad onion; your argument is invalid.

I care about the community. I don't care if we grow That's contradicting. It's in any community's interest to grow. a fallacy is incorrect reasoning in argumentation resulting in a misconception. If you ask me (which you're not, but I'll say it anyway) that's exactly what you're doing to Zang. Yes, he might be letting us trolls do whatever we want, but then you attack him directly... as a person... Ad Hominem =] ^that. We're losing members. That's the point. If we have 10 members and we lose 10 members, how many members do we have if we get no new members? We have 0 members. GENIUS. ;D You should've picked me for mod... This place would have thousands of members. As we say in Spanish: "el hubiera no existe" (lit. there is no " if [subject] had") which means that dwelling on such things won't get you anywhere and it's pointless. Say Dan were to tweet " HEY! Remember this site? I just want everyone who hasn't checked it out to CHECK IT OUT! [insert SPOTM link here.]" We've tried it countless times to no avail. There is a link on the D3P0 site that has been there for months. Tons of people see it, and we get barely any members from it. It's pretty small and it doesn't seem clickable (to me). I know how to bring new people, fresh blood, so that the place will get less rusty, but do you have any other ideas? Elaborate. I don't know about everyone else, but I think we reached stage 4 - even if it was just 10-20 of us, maybe even stage 5? In any case, the goal of the moon was no longer about the world - it was about us. The ones who stayed, the ones who cared not for the moon but for each other. Why stick around? we enjoy each other and how much being a part of this community brings to our lives. When our lives develop, we move on. When newcomers come, we welcome them and let them in (most of the time). So yeah - people left, and lately our numbers have dropped more than they've risen, but I don't think the moon is dead. Exactly my thoughts. Although stage 5 is a bit too much.

They're not part of the community too?
That's still growth
That's not the point. The point is I'm content with the people who chose to stay. I'm not against new people in the slightest.
...le duh
We actually just did a section on that in Bio and I lol'd. So much loling
Using Darwin's findings for an example since you seem to love him, those finches did find on their own for "millions of years" without an outside source
WHEN DID I EVER SAY I DON'T WANT NEW PEOPLE? STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH
I NEVER SAID I DON'T WANT IT TO GROW. Oh and I don't care if we have hundreds of people here. I'm fine with it.
What did this have to do with the price of rice in China?
Damn, second page. Ending this post and making another one now

I don't remember any of this happening
I at least wasn't at level 5. It's like "the world is great" right? I won't ever reach level 5
I MEANT I'M INDIFFERENT
K, you all didn't understand me. I don't care if we don't grow. I don't care if we grow. You guys go grow if you want but these same threads are brought up about wanting to do something or wishing that SPOTM was better. DO SOMETHING. DON'T TELL ME TO DO SOMETHING BECAUSE I THINK IT'S FINE AS IT IS

If I were you, I would pay more attention to who posted this thread this time, instead of just looking at the thread as a thread, because yeah, people posted that kind of threads and not only once. This time is not just a thread that will be gone in a couple of days. If we look at the name of the one that did the LoAM and the one that started the thread, we see the same person. Right here we have an active member and not just someone who came back from the dead and tried to make us revolt. Kevin is posting more often than Chelsea, Mashuga and Cameron. Where are they? They posted the threads like this one, but where are they? You can't compare their effort with Kevin's. Instead of complaining about the existence of threads like this, we should all do something to make them have no reason to be around the place, you know, like... Finding people to hold it alive, convince Dan to say our name just once, you know, 5 seconds in a video. Sounds good and easy, doesn't it? yes but not more than i tried doing. (you all know who i am) no one gives a rats ass, as zang so eloquently phrased it, we keep talking to ourselves about enervating this forum again, but its just the same people talking to the same people about it. its liek a bunch of old people in a nursing home complaining about obamacare day in and day out...pointless. i mean complaining is nice butlieksrsly...you cant keep beating a dead horse. face it, we dont have teh support we need to get anything done here as long as Dan3.0 is still running. so...wait until august and then see what happens

Hey, let's not start losing hope again. Besides, I'm not trying to attack anybody, we're supposed to be in this together. There is no me against you, only us. We should try to figure out something to do. And I never said the moon was dying or dead, because it never will, because I'll always be here. I think Zang's right. There's a reason this place is the way it is and hasn't gotten any better since members starting leaving en masse in the summer. An internet community of regular teenagers just isn't cut out to do anything productive, just bicker and chat about crap. So stop denying the inevitable end and just enjoy each others' company this last little while that SPOTM is around.

1. We are not all teenagers, not even the majority.
2. You're just essentially saying we should totally give up. When we have this forum to lose. And the fact is, we prolly won't get anything like this again, since no famous youtuber will back us...except dan. Who's mentioned us twice since the start of this thread.
