So here we are again, the motivation talk. As usual were fucked. I mean its all well and good that we have the rejuvenation project for now, but what happens after that’s done? Seriously, What will we have accomplished? New members...then what? We’ll be right back where we started again looking for motivation. Our motivation right now is to revitalize SPOTM, but that can only last so long. Once we have our new members we will be revitalized and there goes that device. So...
At the heart of any community is a leader. Rules, Government, and values all need to lead back to one source: a leader. So this isn’t a new idea, we’ve discussed this before. But I think its time for a reassessment. We keep trying to move on beyond the need for a leader, but that’s not true. Proof positive: The hacking of SPOTM.
I said that every community needs a leader, but a leader can serve one of two functions. A leader can either be motivational or demotivational. A demotivational leader is still a leader and I think that’s the point we’ve been missing. Look at what happened when I posted in Dan’s name, everyone jumped at him, embracing him as their leader. He is still our leader. Our demotivational leader. As long as Dan is our leader we are seriously fucked. Some people have suggested that the Admins can be our leaders, but that would never work. The admins are “subjects” also in need of a leader.
So we are at an impasse...what to do. Ideas anyone? Please don;t try saying that Dan isn’t ur leader because he is. Accept it. The sooner you accept it the sooner you can move on. Now my question: How to move on?
We can use a puppet, the Dan account again, use that as a “leader” albeit a meaningless one...or collectively move on
and find someone else. The question is HOW to move on...that’s a tough one.
Draemora has another idea...but he’ll make his own post.
