So.. Tomorrow is Day of Silence and I'm curious as to whether anyone is doing it, and if so, why. I've known about it for 3 years, but I've never done it. I'm all about standing up for the LGBT community, but I've just never liked the idea of Day of Silence. I mean, it's cool to see everyone standing up for something at the same time, but silence seems like the opposite of what we should be doing. Whenever I can say something in support of LGBT rights I do, but I've just never felt that Day of Silence really helps that, so I'm curious what you all think about it.

I'm participating tomorrow for myself. "I am silent for all the times that I have been silent in the past - when all I wanted to do was share who I am. I am silent now because today I will say more about who I am from being silent, than I have in past years. Today I am silent so that you will listen to what I have to say - because tomorrow when I can talk, you might start asking the right questions. Today I am silent, so that you know that I'm willing to spend a day without talking so that you might wait for the answers." That's what I'll be sharing with people tomorrow if they ask. EDIT: For Freddy - www.dayofsilence.org

Yeah Asher, do that. Do that, seriously. As for me, I am participating in the Day of Silence, but this doesn't mean that I won't talk here. I have my leaflets ready with a message in Greek and then translated in English.
"I am sorry I am not talking today, but in certain occasions, silence makes more noise than your shouts of hatred against the homosexual minority of Thessaloniki. I am part of that community, but I am also a part of society, just like you. So think about it... How would the world be if that booming silence would prevail, enhanced by your hatred? We're all humans. Let's stop hating each other for small reasons."
Aaaaand you learnt a bit of Greek today.

Does this count?
I'd like to type.
But seriously, I'll be participating for at least half of the day. I can possibly do most, but I'm not sure.. If I can somehow communicate with text efficiently..

I think the idea of the day of silence is to represent the silence that lgbt teens have to keep. It is also good because you can't silence silence.
