Saving a not-so-real world with very real answers

Guys I was watching Daily planet the other day and they were talking about a new interactive online game called Evoke. Apparently its members are put through quests of world problems and they have to come up with original and innovating ideas to solve them.

I think its meant to encourage people to become social innovators

Though this game is aimed towards Africa, I think this is a great way to utilize one of the largest emerging forces within the world today: the online gamer. In case you don't feel like reading the article, this game gives you points for "volunteering, making business contacts or researching an issue, then submitting evidence of [your] work online" instead of killing monsters or hoarding virtual loot. Also, by the end of the project (May 12) the top scorers will be given scholarships, mentoring, internships, and money to start up their own projects.

I think this is a great idea, and I hope it helps shape the games of the future to take the same route.

It isn't just tasking the players with solving crises or helping a community in a virtual world, it's also asking them to help do that in the REAL world! It's innovative and an excellent first step at getting more people involved in volunteering for their community. I'm a huge supporter of it.
