I'm trying to teach myself guitar, so this might be helpful. I'm in =]

I don't think so... but if I do, I'll ask you. If a lot of people ask for personal help, I could use you.
I'm also doing this to learn, myself. There are definitely people here who know more about music theory than I do. If I say something wrong, please correct me.
EDIT: YES. I will train you to not become a tab-eating solo-playing guitarbot.

Woo! Now if only I actually could play guitar, or had the drive to learn it. x| Because this could be the perfect opportunity... oh well. Do you play piano?

Ha, that's awesome. I've tried to learn piano three times in my life, and every time I ended up just sort of stopping. I haven't really gotten any farther than learning which key is which note. The only instruments I play well are trombone and baritone.

Piano is very helpful to learning theory. It's set up like a perfect diagram of the chromatic scale. And, btw, check the OP. I'm updating it rite nao.

I'm interested! I know a pretty decent amount about musical theory as well, but definitely could use some fine tuning x]
Edit: Suggestion, I think the best place to start would be at the bottom, getting familiar with the notes. For those who want to get into music, or those guitarist who can only read tabs. Maybe work in the circle of fifths?

Alrighty, engesagreen! And yeah, I'm hoping to revolutionize how tutorials are done and lead to some more awesome tutorials. Gesh- OP could either mean Original Post or Original Poster. Urban Dictionary is your friend. @mc Puppet- that's exactly what I had in mind. I want to cover reading music briefly, then move on to the building scales, then the Circle of Fifths, then intervals, and then chord structure. After that's all down, we can do the fun stuff on different styles and how they work. Again, I'm only going to do what youz guyz want me to do.

I'm definitely interested in this. I might just drop in for the more advanced stuff though. Can't wait to see what you do with this.

I can't say I really have any suggestions, because there's not much I can learn until we get to the advanced stuff. But like people have said, I suppose just start from the very basics (i.e. reading notes and stuff) and work your way up, depending on the feedback you get as to what people still have questions about.

If any musical people want to suggest stuff for people who are on a basic level (BUT NOT FOR LAWNG!), please tell me. I'll be sure to add it to the basics section.

Um... phrasing? Or is that not something to be covered in basics?

For the basics, I want to just cover the building blocks. Phrasing will come later with actual song structure. Unless you have another opinion, which I'm totally open to.

This is definitely something that sounds interesting for people who are interested in learning more about music. Conjoin if you get alot of people who are wanting more personal one on one time and you need any help with that feel free to contact me. I will probably watch your lessons that you create to see another side of teacher for my own knowledge. My background in music consists of playing piano, guitar, electric bass, alto sax, trumpet and some rhythm. I also had the credits in college to minor in music where i had taken 4 semesters of theory and 3 semesters of eartraining and i have been in choir since the third grade. So like i said if you need more help with one one one's i will love to give my knowledge on the subject at hand. Again i think this is a great idea and cant wait to see what happens with it.
