All right so the majority vote is 10 for "it's a joke" and 8 for offensive. But even if it was 17 thinking it was a joke and 1 thinking it was offensive, wouldn't the feelings of that one person be enough reason to never say it again? Some people can't take a joke. This is news.

I don't like jokes at the expense of other people, especially ones who aren't present.
Unless, you know, they've actually done something wrong maybe. Or it's actually funny. Or it makes a point...
Okay so I'm ranting again

We use majorities a lot. In the case of a simple joke, I think it's fine to just tell that one person to ignore it.
It's a joke, not the president of the US. Ya know?

I refuse to be offended on behalf of anyone else. If homosexuals are offended by it, they can tell me. Until then, there is enough suck in my own life to worry about.
In short. No one should be commenting on offense in this thread unless they are, in fact, a homosexual because it does not refer to you. Let the people whom it may or may not refer to chime in and close the matter.

That's a cop out. Something is either okay or not.
edited version: if we were saying something nasty about your friend who was not in the room would you say we shouldn't defend them as they're not there and it's not our business?
original version:
If we were talking about the N word would you say it didn't matter and we shouldn't talk about it unless we're black? If we were talking about human rights would you say it doesn't matter unless our own rights are affected?

Because saying you're not gay is the same as violating human rights.

Because saying you're not gay is the same as violating human rights. Sorry, but that made me lol, despite its douchebag-ness. RabbitWho, you seem to feel very strongly about this and that's perfectly awesome. However, I do think you're getting carried away. The phrase "no homo" is just that: a phrase. Moreover, it's a joke. I've never heard "nigger" used in good humor. There is a huge difference. I can see how no homo could be derogatory, however, most of the time it's not. I honestly don't think it's offensive enough to get worked up about.

okay sorry, i used 2 bad examples and you guys missed my point.
I wasn't saying it was anything like violating human rights or anything like using the N word, I was just saying that we need to stand up for people whether it directly affects us or not.

If I use it with friends it's in an obviously joking manner, and as long as the phrase is used as an obvious joke I don't really think it matters. I just don't understand people that use "no homo" seriously, it seems weird.
Also this:
"What's up with that saying 'No homo'? I hang out with dudes for free, pro-bono."

I doubt gay people are bothered by this. If they are, they need to learn to suck it up. EDIT: That sounded very rude >.> What I meant is that if people actually feel insulted by 'no homo', they've got to understand that stuff like that is pretty common. And it's also hardly ever meant to insult anyone.

I can't watch the video right now, so I can't answer your question...BUT!
No matter what you are, there will always be people making fun of you. Blond jokes, racist jokes, gay jokes...the list goes on. There's no reason to get offended. They're just words. Even if they are said occasionally with cruel intentions, it's not worth getting annoyed about.
No homo is completely okay with me, and I don't think anyone (gay or not gay) should be offended by it, unless they have the sensitivity of a three year old. =P

I hate when people use the term "no homo", I mean it's just uncalled for most of the time.

In one hand you're letting people know, because homosexuals aren't that well seen in society..on the other hand it can be offensive to homosexuals. Most times it's a joke, but it has limits. No homo CAN be used, it just depends on the context, I guess.

Girls, do you get offended when a guy tells another guy, "You throw like a girl!"
Think about how that applies to this conversation...
If you DO get offended by that comment, you need to touch up on anatomy, lol.
