What is your opinion on the issue.
I think the US should reform its healthcare system because one of the biggest problems in this country is that the majority of Americans can't afford to go to the hospital. People are afraid to get hurt because if they do, it would bankrupt them. There is a reason why every European nation has adopted Universal Healthcare and that's because it works. Europe is leading right now in highest healthcare satisfaction, lets learn from their example. Everyone has the right to affordable healthcare but our government has sold itself out to the corporate big-wigs. Vote 'yes' on Universal Healthcare.

We have free healthcare in the UK, I mean you have to pay for your medicine but you can usually get your money back or at least half of it! - I'm a student, and I don't have to pay for any medicine! Everything is free - the dentists too! You Americans just look stupid getting all mad and saying NO bla bla, - just watched the Daily show...Hilarious! Fox news say 70% dont want it? You will be able to go to the doctors and get fixed up and you'll be all better and it won't cost you. And you don't want it? It's only because those who oppose it and dont want it are getting money from these cooperations that rip you Amerians off, they dont want it because they wont profit from it! Here in the UK we have the National Health Service and Private Healthcare, you can have both worlds.. It's not hard

Amen, if we have a right to "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness" then we need the medical care to keep on living. No one can defend money against life.

That's a pretty narrow-minded way to think. I'm not saying your opinion of Obama is narrow. Rather, from what you said, it sounds like you hate him because you're Republican and he isn't.
If you dislike him for real material reasons, then nevermind. That's just how you sounded. =P
Anyway, I think Universal health care is great. However, we should get the option of keeping our current program. Through my mother's work, my parents have healthcare passed down from the gods; it's amazing. I don't want them to lose that because of this bill. That's definitely not the case for everyone, though.

I'd rather everybody have healthcare, even if a few people's has to decrease in quality. Even then, it's not like they'd be getting shots in an alley or something. For those without insurance, even a sore throat can keep you down in the dumps for weeks. Why make so many suffer just so that a few can have excess coverage?

The problem with our country is big wig executives would rather have money than have life. Why are we still fighting in Iraq? Cuz they have OIL. Why dont we have universal healthcare? because of money.

Why is it that we Canadians seem to get a lot of things right, and then Republicans say it's not right for the States because of some socialist conspiracy plot?
Everything's worked out fine up north!

I agree completely with both of you. If the US would spend more time actually improving what we have and less time pulling conspiracy theories out of its ass the world would be a better place.

I absolutely support a universal health care plan
In my personal situation, I'm a 19 year old male , who isn't going to a university and very hard to get health coverage and even harder to PAY for it.
But I'd be more than happy to pay the money if I could get any kind of coverage , right now I'm in a really unsafe position, if I'm injured ,well, I'm screwed. But I just can't get any kind of coverage that's competent, not that I expect anything amazing and I certainly don't expect it to be free but I just feel like I'm in a social group that was completely forgotten by the current U.S. healthcare system.

Being from the UK I know what it's like having free health care. And it is really quite good! It saves people from dishing out large amounts of money that they may not have - and therefore also people passing up things that they need simply because of costs.
And yes, I suppose there are often jokes about the low quality of the NHS (National Health Service), but that's in terms of comfort - it still gets the job done. And if people really care about how enjoyable their trip to the hospital is - then they can still chose private health care. As one previous user said: The best of both worlds.
So to America - I think you should definitely all look forward to free health care whenever it comes.

Well, I support it, but based on the poll I'm in good company such that I don't really need to defend that stance.

If you can't afford healthcare, you need a better job. Minimum wages are a separate issue. If you're dumb enough to not buy healthcare, you deserve to pay out of pocket when you need to. Companies shouldn't have to accept a sure loss, only people who can benefit or hurt, those who are not yet sick. I don't want to pay for your healthcare. If I did, I would hand you money under my own will. It's called a donation. My government shouldn't force me to make that donation. It's been adopted in Europe because European countries don't have 300,000,000 people in them.

If you can't afford healthcare, you need a better job. It's not as simple as it sounds buddy. Yeah, because minimum wage sucks. I suggest something along the lines of: Government at State or Federal(I wouldn't know which is better, I'm not a political science major) controls how much a doctor can charge for a given service. Quite frankly, they should be the ones to do it because they have the power. Insurance has to cover ~95% of this charge ALWAYS. No negotiation, no "Ima pay 92.7% because I don't like you." Minimum wage increases

No my friend, you were not forgotten. You WILL have health insurance or you WILL be fined by big brother, it's in the bill.
I'm one of the dumb ones here, and I do pay out of pocket, in full, everytime. But not once obamacare passes as I am being forced into buying a service I don't want.
EU has insane taxes (come to the US and check out the taxes here which are low by comparison) especially on things like gasoline. Already our government is suggesting a tax on products along with the current income tax, SS tax (going bankrupt), and medicare/medicaid tax (going south quickly too).
I agree we need universal heatlhcare... but not this package. While it does have good things in it, overall I'd have to label this bill FAIL

They shouldn't force you, thats agreed, but you really should. If you develop cancer or something FSM only knows how much it will cost, and FSM only knows how much you'll be able to pay, and FSM only knows where the rest will come from. You might end up on one of those emails saying "He needs brain surgery but cant afford it send this to 100 people and Bill Gates will pay us."
