If I lost my arms in a war, I'd like them back plz. Wait a sec, I CAN'T get my arms back because a bunch of superstitious nuts said it's bad to study aborted fetuses?

I don't have anything agaisnt it in general, I acctually think its great. But why cause huge controversy and argue over it because we use embryonic stem cell. There are no proven points that say it is more productive than Adult bone marrow, and why make a controversy out of something that is eaisly agreed upon. Let people believe what they want. I think alot of people are just being stubborn and not wanting to agree.

I'm all for stem-cell research.

Stem cell research could have saved my aunt's life. She is the only person to ever have survived two bouts of ovarian cancer. Unfortunately a month after the ovarian cancer had disappeared, my aunt caught leukemia and died 3 weeks later - too weak from chemo to fight the leukemia.
I'm for it - I see no reason to be against it.

Oh I am absolutely in favor of it.
I do understand why some anti-abortion people feel it is against their conscience to benefit from abortions. I can see where they're coming from a moral standpoint, but anyone who claims it encourages abortions is extremely misguided, we're not talking about supermarket meat here - demand will never affect supply.
My mom is anti-abortion but for stem cell research; she's never been one for abstract morals. The embryos are dead, their bodies are only flesh the same as the body of anyone else when they die.. and if you can use those bodies to help other people then that's great. I gotta admit it creeps me out a little, but if someone I loved was sick and this helped them I'd soon get over that.. and I should love everyone!

I'm for it, so long as there are fairly strict regulations. There has always been something thats weirded me out about stem cell research however the pros far outway the cons.

Actually, fetus cells can morph to any organ where as adult ones are already specialized, so they ARE more productive, but people find using aborted fetuses to be morally wrong. I find this to be stupid on so many levels. If the fetus is already dead, then there is no reason not to use stem cells. I can see from the moral standpoint of pro-lifer's, but since they can't do anything once the fetus is aborted I cannot see from the position of anti-stem cell people.

i really see no problem with using aborted fetuses for research, and i really have no idea why anyone would have a problem with it. abortions happen, why not use it?

I'm all for it. I'm pretty sure scientists are going to be careful about it. I mean, not only might they have, like, human morals (shockkkkerrrr!), but if they screw up? Hullo lawsuits.

Scientists are already producing fully functional organs because of stem cell research. We are saving the lives of entire families because of stem cell research.

To the thing with cells from a fetus is more productive that those of an adult: I'm pretty sure scientists have found a way to create stem cells from an adult person's cells.
On-topic I'm for it all the way since it has magnificent possibilities, and can be used for not only saving lives but also raising the life quality of some who has lost an arm or a leg in an accident.

It was touched on above, adult stem cells do exist and we can collect them, but they are more limited in what they can turn into. Embryonic stem cells can become nearly any (human) organ we need them to, while adult ones are limited depending on what type are collected.
Trey posted a couple links above, which I admittedly haven't checked, but I imagine explain it much better than I can.

Trey, I love when someone connects stem cell research to abortion like that, it just shows they don't know what they are talking about. Dead fetuses are not the only way to get stem cells, you can get them when the baby is born, what you are talking about is a technology years in the past.

Have fun taking enough cells from a newborn baby to make a difference.
