I think Dan think's too highly of us. He has this image of us that we are such a great community and we have all these great projects going and that we are really moving as a community (this is... honestly... not true) and he think's we're ready to take on this project of his. But since we are not all that he expects us to be, I guess we are disappointed in the project because... well... I dunno. Did I explain that right? Dan expects so much from us, and we expect so much from Dan.... But neither of us can live up to be what we want each other? Like.. Dan expects us to be such a great community, yet we haven't yet so when Dan announced his project, some of us are disappointed he let us down because we... don't have that feel of a community to work on that project...? Okay. I'm confusing myself. Someone help me out if you get some sense of it.

that was the point of the thread... that and the waste of talent and resources. Also I'm getting really pissed with people throwing around the words "succeed" and "fail"
This is nothing but an abstract term here. There is no goal, only and idea that I fail to see how it can "succeed" or "fail"
Edit: Sniped

I believe that we have a lot of questions for Dan, which whenever he decides to wake up today, he said he would answer them, i think he might be either astonished or amused on how little people understand this :/ He obviously has ideas of what this project could turn into.

This is why I hate fanboyism.

He obviously has ideas of what this project could turn into. we dont know yet how this project will turn out, it could go anyway Sounds like you're saying that Dan knows what he's doing and we don't.

My problem with the project is that there's no real way to measure its success. At Vidcon dan talked about how businesses or baseball teams can do better by letting their customers/fans make the decisions. In these situations you can easily measure the success. Either the team will improve or they won't. But how can we measure the success of Dan's life? He doesn't go to school or have a real job so he can't improve there. People might look back at this and see that sure a community was able to take control and make decisions for Dan, but did that accomplish anything? No. Sadly all they will see is that he was able to stay busy for a year.
