No matter where you go, you are sure to find a ton of disagreements regarding Jesus. In Dan's latest video, I think he did an excellent job expressing his opinion without stepping on any toes. However, there are sure to be people who disagree with his ideals, and even the way he projected them. Within my religious community, we often say that "Jesus was the great example, not the great exception." So, while I believe in some sort of God, I don't feel the need to pray and worship an unconfirmed source. I don't really know what's out there once we kick the bucket, but can we really be sure that there is an afterlife? I know a fair amount of people who claim that all they look forward to is "going to heaven." Personally, I don't understand how some people can sit idly by and wait until their death. I think everyone should go out and live their life happily, regardless of what is to come afterwords.
But what do you think? Could Jesus really turn water into wine and walk on water, or did the people who truly looked up to him as a normal person want him to be remembered as a saint? I don't think this should be an arguable topic, just because everyone is firmly set in their beliefs. While I am happy with my beliefs, that doesn't mean I'm going to tell people, "You should believe that your life is determined by the positive energy you bring, because I do." So, I ask for your opinions of Jesus, but request that you don't try to flame each other. Go!

I think Jesus was a very charismatic but very HUMAN person. He had the ability to draw tons of people to his ideas and teachings. Kind of like Hitler, only in a more positive way. I don't believe he was the messiah, living God, or any of that garble, and I don't believe he walked on water or turned it into wine. ;P

I'm an atheist, so take this as you will, but I'd say it's fairly clear that he wasn't divine; his beliefs and teachings were well ahead of his time, but all the same are a bit behind ours today in some areas. He advocated slavery for example. This is not to take away from the man (if he did exist), but just to show that he was still just a human, no more no less. As I said, he was well ahead of his time, and his ethical stances, given the era, were superb. Dan touched on Jesus teaching against buying and selling religion; I wanted to point out that he also advocated separation of church and state to some extent (give unto Caesar...). Dude was WAY ahead of his time.

I agree...mostly...with Dan's interpretation of Jesus. I'm an agnostic, so I think that placing Jesus on a superhuman level goes a bit too far. I think the quote that lemonscentedlexis brought up ("Jesus was the great example, not the great exception") is very accurate. This is a perfect representation of Jesus: he was just a good guy, not necessarily the son of a higher being.

I think that Jesus was the era's equivalent of today's Chuck Norris.
ie: People walk on land, Jesus Christ walks on water.
then gullible bronze-age people take it too seriously, etc... Giant game of telephone.

I don't know how much discussion this topic will bring up here, really. We've beaten these topics to death in the debate forum already lol.

I'm a christian. those are my views of him. I think you need to be more specific. There are literally billions of versions of Christianity out there, with many conflicting beliefs about Jesus. Personally, I agree with much of what Dan said this time. Though I don't actually believe in a god (not that Dan is very specific about what he considers a god to be). I also don't necessarily believe Jesus actually existed, at least in the form he appears in the Bible. In any case much of what the Biblical Jesus said and did is good (he's basically a socialist). Though lots of people (real and legendary) have done and said good things, so Jesus is really just special due to popularity. Too bad so many of his supporters seem to have missed his message and rarely seem to do WJWD.

Going back to the point about God and an afterlife...Mankind has been contemplating this philosophically and literally for thousands of years, and we STILL don't have a straight answer with tangible evidence.
For what it's worth, here's my video response to Dan's JESUS video.

Lol wow. Well, religion is like that. A lot of people will agree to disagree on anything else, but touch their religion and they'll snap on you.

Originally, I (mostly) agreed with Dan. But then I realized that there are some major problems with taking that point of view, so I made a video about it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ0pd7tX-Bw

There is no empirical evidence suggesting the existence of Jesus.

Giant game of telephone. Funny thing is, Chuck Norris is a Christian But anyways, back on topic. I was raised Christian but I'm not necessarily a devote follower, although I still find Jesus' teachings great to live your life by. Usually when I get in a conversation about what I believe in I tell people "I believe there could be a God and I look up to Jesus, throw everything else out".

When Dan asked for video responses to his "Jesus" video, I wasn't really clear on what he was asking for. I have just recently read the book "Chariots of the Gods" which is about science AND religion so I made a video about that. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiI9xmKOWvkIt's also the first in a series of videos I will do about counter- and sub-culture.
