Alrighty, now I have to ask a question. When you guys are proposing these percentages, what are you thinking you'll be voting for? What kind of decisions do you think you'll be making? What do you think we should decide with our lovely Pogotribian democracy? If we are voting on a decision that effects the community won't we want to keep 100% of the community together and not abandon any percentage of the users. I am not saying that for small decisions such as the offical food of the pogotribe (I need to go make this topic ) a small percentage win such as 60% to 40% is okay. Then you have the stuff that will effect the community drastically, such as the Goverment of the forum, you want as much of a majority as possible, such as 90% to 10%. My argument is that the percentage should depend on the way the answer will effect the community.

Indeed, a democracy seems to be the most obvious fit for the PogoTribe, but Dan doesn't have the... feel? of a single ruler like the president. Besides, we didn't vote for him as leader, even though it would most likely be a unanimous vote of approval.
But every other aspect of a democracy - that is, the 'rule by the people' aspect - applies to us very well, and we can do more to improve on it.
Dan already does so much by creating and posting more personal videos to interact with us on PogoTok, and having these forums allows us to speak freely to each other, the only restriction being purely Stage 3 words and actions. The idea of a poll is cliched, yet appropriate, because having questions asked and making our opinions known through polling is very much like a democracy.
The only clinch on that is what was mentioned before. Not everyone will agree on a single point, so there will either have to be many polls on a single issue in order to get the maximum percentage of support, or leave a big chunk of the Tribe behind the majority.
I cannot think of a way to remedy this: if there were questions asked that would knowingly generate a large percentage over one option, then there would be no point in taking the poll. And there's almost no way of knowing how the vote would be split in a poll before posting it. All we can really do is debate on the separate aspects of a poll and see what we'll do if the results are split too evenly.
Another question we can ask ourselves concerning this democracy is if we should truly be building a government for our tribe. Of course, there will be a hierarchy, and a way to do things. There will be people who run things and people to answer to. But should we make this a government, or leave it as a system of operations? After all, it's a country that needs a government to keep order, and if we were a country, we could never claim the South Pole in the first place. On the other hand, we come from all over the world, and it's likely that our total population is larger than many small countries, maybe even a few medium-sized ones. So what shall we do?
Just putting a few points in the open. Decipher what you will, and enjoy life.
