Good Sirs And Ladies, and things in-between or not at all.
I say we should all do the worm down out local Mall/Town Square/Boardwalk/Happenin' place to be.
Maybe throw in a few people walking on their hands, using their feet to feed their ''balloon heads'' tied to their belts.
or maybe something simple like...carpooling in an invisible car in your local neighborhood.

Hello! Just read through this entire thread. I've been sick the past few days and was feeling pretty down-- this was a major pick-me-up. Just wanted to say thanks. You're awesome. I can't wait to start doing all these crazy things

I think Dan shouldn't get a hair cut for the entire year, then afterwards he can donate his hair to Locks for Love. Yay, nay?

I think that for one month, Dan starts out with something small such as a paperclip and continues to trade it. But he trades it up in value just a little bit. ie. he trades the paperclip for a pencil, the pencil for a pen, the pen for a fancier pen, that pen for a notebook, etc etc until it builds up to something considerable in value. For a month he can choose at any time to attempt to trade up his item and hopefully after 30 days it amounts to something optimal. This could then be donated, depending on what it is to an organization of our choice. Of course this concept HAS been done before and we all know this, but I think that it would be interesting to see what turns up.

Alright, I've thought about this. I'm going to post my idea, then go back and maybe reply to some of the others. That being said, I apologize in advanced if there is double posting etc. My idea, Dan should, at least once, go to a FIRST Robotics competition. I feel like it would be a rather good experience for him and for the Tribe to see one. Allow me to explain: FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a program that was founded in 1989 by two very smart men I could write forever about but I'll spare you. In short, it is a competition for students of all ages (4-high school, different divisions obviously) where they receive a game/challenge, certain materials and rules, and have a finite time to build program and run a working robot. They they compete at an international level for various awards and a chance to go to the championship in St. Louis. The program I am in is FRC, or FIRST Robotics Competition. It is the high school level, and the largest most competitive one. We have. Our regional events (qualifiers for St. Louis), last three days and are the most fun I will ever have. FRC regionals are all over the country and world, and are well worth a visit. What would be even cooler is if he found a way to talk at one of them. I know that might be harder, but it might be possible. The reason I say this is because the speakers at these events are always politicians, people at engineering firms, and other similar people. Their speechs are all the same about how we are the future and how they wish they could do that and blah blah blah. Yes, they're good, but sometimes it's hard for students to connect with them. If Dan could see this and really talk to the students on a less official level, I think it would be great for all involved. Now, I know that I just gave a pretty big FRC plug there, but that's because that's the one I know the most about. There are many other FIRST competitions, all with regionals and all great. Anyone interested can go to www.usfirst.org and learn me. Dan 3.0 could be inspiring, and therefore he should work to inspire others as well...no matter what their area/nitch is.

This could then be donated, depending on what it is to an organization of our choice. Of course this concept HAS been done before and we all know this, but I think that it would be interesting to see what turns up. I like where this is going. And maybe have it that: 1) When he does the trading, it has to be with someone he doesn't know 2) He has to learn something about the person, not really sure what, but kind of see my train of thought here? For a month goal, what if we have Dan learn a talent and then teach that talent to a group of people that might be underprivileged, or something along the lines of that? Like at a Boys and Girls club or something? What about learning some the math logic behind rubix cubes and using that to jumpstart some sort of math program? Or pogosticking. Linking Dan 3.0 to Dan 1.0 and coming full circle? To me Dan seems like a person who loves using imagination and creativity himself, so i think it would be awesome if he attempted to build his own Go-Kart from raw materials and once completed, must reach a speed of i dont know.... 20 mph? or is that too slow? lol Anyway i like my idea (but then i would be bias anyway) and i would love to see Dan achieve this, i think it could be entertaining and fun/funny to watch. 1) Love the username Robotics nerds FTW 2) I feel like this could be broken down into weekly goals as well. He has to get materials (maybe junkyward wars style), test it, etc. 3) Could we possibly ask his girlfriend to build one too and have them race? That'd be fun Short-term daily goal: Dan goes to a fancy restaurant with his laptop, Danielle goes to a fancy restaurant with her laptop, and an intimate dinner is shared between the two via Skype. Dan can Paypal the cost of the bill to Danielle following dinner. Genius idea! Dude, that would be so cool to see. The people in the restaraunt would be like, "What the?" Awesome idea, you have my vote for helping you get that to the top. Mine too. This would just be plain adorable. Maybe start a little more small scale. Get the public evolved. Start a local recycling program of some sort. Most people don't know that batteries can be recycled, and that if they are not disposed of correctly, the acid can harm the environment. Dan can inspire a battery recycle program at his local library or something. Maybe it's because I'm an Urban Affairs student, but I always feel helping out the nearest city is an awesome thing to do, especially urban education. See above points. Oh wow, I love that idea, hehe. I LOVE this idea too XD We're horrible people, but I am also a fan. we stuck post-it notes around our local shopping centre saying stuff like "you are beautiful; dont ever change for anyone" or "you are a superstar" just anything that we could think of to boost peoples confidence. Maybe on random things in the store during ^^ task =P I think Dan should take his love of pogo to the world. He should teach someone on every continent (excluding Antarctica) how to pogo, leaving him/her with a pogo stick to practice and pass the love on. This would be a longer-term project, of course. No, even Antarctica. Little America is down there, just waiting to be taught how to pogo. Penguins love to pogo, from what I've heard. Could just be a rumor though. I found this book called This Book Will Change Your Life and flipping through it made me think immediately of Dan 3.0. My idea for a long term challenge is for Dan to do every thing in the book (it's 365 things to do to change your life in a year). I think people who really want to be part of Dan 3.0 should read this. It's a good idea but it's probably not practical for him to do every one, so let's see what we like. My daily goal idea is for Dan to walk into a book store and walk up to the first non-employee person he sees and ask for a book recommendation- the first recommendation he receives he should try and read in a day and then post a video about his response to his (and recommend it to someone else). Am I the only one who would also love to see this with a comic book? he could go organic for a month. Or we could challenge him to only use public transportation for a week. Or both. We could even expand this to a long term goal of reducing your carbon footprint and making little sub parts to it. Dan should go to a retirement home or a hospice care facility and interview all of the patients. I think there are a lot of interesting stories to be told and, as morbid as it may sound, it might be the last time these people get to tell their stories. Consider this liked by me multiple times. 2) learn to say hey world in at least 15 languages. (daily? weekly? goal) That would be really fun You should learn the basics of C++ Or something like that at least. Maybe it's because I'm most likely going to major in computer science, but I love this idea. Nerds unite! We should have a zombie meet up. Everyone dresses up as a zombie, and forget our zombie prejudices for a night. We can maybe also support some charities at the same time. Doesn't that sound fun?? A zombie themed meet up.... i do this already with Humans Versus Zombies in college... but I love the idea. Also the ideas of Dan traveling and holding meetings of pogotribe members. This just gave me possibly the world's stupidest idea but I have to say it. Would a giant live action Plants v. Zombies with members of the pogotribe be doable? Come on, you know you want to. Dan != Stork How about putting up all of earth's countries' flags in your room? That would be awesome! Having Sweden's flag, Spain's, India's, ya know.. But he can't go out and just buy them. There has to be a story there. He doesn't have to go to the country persay, but he just can't go to the store and pick it up either. Alright, I'll stop here. May do more later. So many good ideas

It would be awesome, if you could somehow build a community service project among your viewers. To have people from all over the world, who go out for a day... and share something interesting about their town, and the people in it, and to share what is special and beautiful about it. Then, for you to reply in a videoblog to your experience watching the different people's lives, and places, and showing the top 5 videos you watched that were most impactful.

All i seem to be seeing as a community is multiple coalitions, like political parties... i honestly think this is not the way we should be going about this becuase it means that the high up people are able to get there ideas to the front first and almost certainly Get their requests completed. Until one day there will be coalitions between the coalitions and so on until there are a group of dictators at the top. if we want this idea to really work we need to treat it less like a voting for political parties where you may not like all the values of a party but you MUST buy into them to get that little thing you want , it should be more like a system where if you like something you vote it up. as simple as that , i mean you didnt see coalitions when dan was using the moderator module did you ?
Use your vote on what you want dan to do not what anyone else wants dan to do
If the coalition systems continue none of the ideas from people who are lower down , or non existent in the pogo tribe will not be heard and that could change how well the project goes for everyone.
what im basically saying is dont make it like the real world , we still have a chance to change this to something which can work for everyone. there will allways be ideas left behind , we just need to make sure the cream floats to the top and the bad ideas are rejected , no matter who they come from.

Do some random acts of kindness, like, carry around some cards and when you do something nice for someone give them the card and tell them to do something nice for somebody else... (for example, lets say someone asks to borrow a few dollars, instead of having them pay you back, give them the card and tell them to do something nice for someone else and pass the card on...) The cards would be a way to remind them to do something nice, and it would be pretty awesome if one of the cards eventually got to another member of the PogoTribe

Maybe a bit harsh...

I don't know what type of goal this could be, but anyway... Theres a song by Paul Baribeau - Ten Things, (I only thought about it because a youtuber called MrJohnSkeens done a fantastic cover of it!) Why doesn't Dan do something like that? Here's some of the lyrics:
name ten things you wanna do before you die and then go do them. name ten places you really wanna be before you die and then go to them name ten books you wanna read before you die and then go read them name ten songs you wanna hear again before you die, get all of your friends together and scream them
What d'you think?

Local community and internet community.
To Be Opened in ONE YEAR.
