I'm very interested in the charity potential of Dan 3.0. I love the charity concert or fundraiser ideas, but I actually think we can dream even bigger I've corresponded with Shawn from the Uncultured Project, and he said he has spoken to Dan, and Dan is willing to spend some time in Bangladesh with Shawn if the community votes it to be so. If you're unfamiliar with the Uncultured Project, it's a very grassroots project based around the YouTube community, where this guy Shawn Ahmed is doing projects in rural Bangladesh to help in poor communities with donations and suggestions from the YouTube community. It would fit well with the spirit of Dan's project as well. Anybody with me? I think that it would be a really great idea for Dan to help out in Bangladesh! We could see whats happening and help move forward in Dan 3.0 as a charity sort of thing, which would be great

I really think all of these "Tour De Pogotribe" ideas would be good for a finale. Like, have it happen July 2011 as the last big thing to be done. Also, the charity ideas should really be project-long goals in my opinion. We see how much money we've raised in a year, and August 2011, we donate it all at once (possibly in the form of over-sized novelty cheque?) to a charity (*cough*HPA*cough*) Also, I LOVE the Uncultured Project idea. GREAT IDEA!!!! I vote yes!!! He obviously can't tour the whole world...so which countries would he go to?

Hey World! I think Dan should try to have his own Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Flavor. LOL!!! What flavor do you suggest??

Monthly goal for Dan: Organize a Pogotribe meet-up. Yeah! It would be nice to meet people face-to-face.

I know I'm just a noob... and that I'm not necessarily knowledgeable on how to bring out my ideas on this site... But I hope whoever's out there will hear me out. Hopefully I'll be able to hear from other people who can agree w/ my ideas on this, and maybe if I'm lucky they'll know how to collab. so that we can make this a reality (*crosses fingers*)... But, anyway, here it goes: I've heard a lot of people on the threads talking about charities and money and that sort of thing... And it got me thinking... Because I love that idea, but I can see it as being relatively, quite possibly, problematic... And, maybe, not quite so tangible... in a vlogging format, I mean... And the idea I came up with is this: The best donation you could ever contribute is your time. Volunteering is not only a great way to help out your community and get to know other people; It instills within you the experiences and the humanity that only face-to-face time could establish. And by Dan going through with the multiple volunteer ideas we come up with (like giving blood, and reading to children, and picking up litter, and talking to old folks, planting trees, and learning new skills! (The possibilities are endless!)), and posting them on his 3.0 vlog, we too would be instruments in making the world a better place! It would promote the ideas we feel passionate about, like ending "world suck." And it would make others what to make their own communities just as awesome! Thus creating a snowball effect of people taking action to make the world infinitely as great and wonderful! (See, the macro-idea is volunteering, the micro-ideas are all those that we can think of, like the shelter dogs, etc. !) I think this would be a wonderful idea for a plan/project of focus in Dan's activities throughout this next year. If you agree with me, I'd love to hear from you!

My idea was for him to write a play, gather actors, and ultimately produce the play, giving the profits to charity as a monthly goal. What do you guys think? Yup...but insted of a play, a movie (so people who don't live in the USA can see in too) using talent from youtube. So that the people aren't famous, that way it'll be a real comunity project.

I wonder if Dan is afraid that we'll just start using him as our creative outlet?

HPA is going to be set for a while after winning that contest so recently. Uncultured i'd still go with though. Maybe a new charity should be brought to the forefront for this one. Spread the wealth, you know? Or maybe help really specific charities hit their goals. Say if so-and-so somewhere wants to raise 1000 dollars for a specific charity, we could probably find a way to tackle several of them quickly. Or find someone with a food drive that has a can-food goal and we'd get to pick what he grocery shopped and bought for it. I'm just thinking back to that time when all the schools were doing drives for simple things like shampoo, razors, letters, and playing cards for soldiers overseas. Not these examples specifically, but simple things that made big impacts, you know? brainstorming lol.

Alright. Some more ideas. 1. Make 1000 origami swans. Not time restricted though. 2. Learn a language. 3. Break a world record. 4. Read the Twilight series. IT'S DIFFICULT! I like that 4th, not so original but definitely entertaining to hear about... Maybe add a note he must review it in detail after each book. Not such a good idea, becuase in the tribe they're are going to be lot of people who love twilight and a lot of people who hate twilight. By making Dan review them we'll be forcing him to take sides...Which will just seperate the community instead of uniting us.

I like this, too. Very "Thirteen-Little-Blue-Envelopes". As long as it doesn't get too outrageous, or too plain-jane. I think transportation should be whatever is available, considering you can walk for two hours and get no where in most places, but if you get in a car or bus or train travel two hours, you can cross multiple state lines depending where you started from. Also, I think maybe we should just keep him in Nebraska for now? Most people would say out-of-state, but how many of us actually know anything about our own states/towns/citys/etc? I'd say we all know about an hour in two or three directions at most. Let's get him beyond that. What if we google map'd interesting nearby locations and sent him there? Things both he and we would experience for the first time? i agree, and then after exploring nebraska visit other states. one goal could maybe be for him to visit one city in every state in the US? EDIT: i do think it will be more intresting to watch if he goes out of the state at least once or twice Oh of course, but it could easily be a daily goal to get him to drive three hours THAT WAY and explore. But more of a monthly/weekly goal to go anywhere farther.

Make Dan sit down, go to Wikipedia, hitting random article, read it and then hit random article again and repeating this for an hour a day, everyday, for a month, at the end of this month Dan will talk about in a video about how he has grown in knowledge after doing this.

DailyIdea: Dan should should talk to [Insert youtube partner here] about [Insert topic here] Explanation: None needed WeeklyDan should have a live BlogTV movie screening party with a moive based on the Daily vlogs of that week Explanation: For example if his last 4 vlogs were; Talking to Johnny Paula (Ideo Prod.), Talking about time travel, talking about the 80's, and talking about cars the movie of chocie would be Back to the future and it would be shown live on his BlogTV/Ustream account with his commentary. MonthlyDan should organize a charity concert with a local band Not so crazy about the daily goal. Think that the rest are really great ideas!!! I would vote YES!

I still think we're being too broad and not very creative or specific. Maybe we should be thinking a little more out of the box? Everything we're saying has already been done. There HAVE been gatherings, there HAVE been youtube charity phenoms, there HAVE been youtubers who traveled the country basically living off of peoples couches and good hearts along the way. And we still need daily/weekly goals. Everything we've been going for thus far has been hardcore monthly.

I think, for a monthly goal, Dan should get someone to make us a web app that allows us to create and collaborate on community projects.

I just thought of something. We should really be making these ideas for Dan 3.0 coincide with the Pogotribe Values set forth so many months ago:
1. Use our Awesomeness for good 2. Embrace our inner weird 3. Have fun 4. Think impossibly big (My favorite in general, and especially for the D3.0 project) 5. Grow out 6. Grow strong 7. Stand by what we know to be true
And I must say, many of the ideas coincide with many of the values. But is there some "Meta-Ideas" that encompass all of them? The Uncultured Project one certainly does.

I agree with this whole heartedly, a lot of little ideas with large impacts. Perfectly capable for daily or weekly goals.

Doing that would stick him in some really interesting situations which would almost force him to adapt to and form great video footage. An entire week or more for this 'project' would not neccesarily stunt the scope in which the voters can choose different things for Dan to do. Indeed, it would probably make it more interesting as more states and places become more easily available. Another suggestion: It would be interesting if Dan could secure a sponsorship of some sort that would allow him to have a GPS unit it on him that he would take wherever he went. That way people could track where he was if the information was made visual on an online map. Although that would tempt stalkers. :/
