The PC Coalition
The PC Coalition is a one-off coalition whose purpose is to get a suggestion "buy a new PC computer" to be voted highly enough so that Dan carries it out (not necessarily meaning he has to give up his mac). Once this purpose is achieved the Coalition will disband. You may be a part of other coalitions as well as this one.
If you would like to join, please leave a comment here stating your YouTube username.
We will perhaps be first making the suggestion in week 3, when the first flurry of suggestions have come and gone.
If you would like to suggest a re-wording to the future-suggestion or have any recommendations, post here.

I'm not against this, but I'm not for it. I guess I don't see the real benefit of him having a PC over a Mac. Don't get me wrong, I have a PC myself, but their both computers and they do the same stuff (mostly) so how is him getting a PC going to benefit... anyone?
To clarify, I'm not shooting the idea down, if you can convince me that it will benefit someone, I might join you.
Oh, and if I do join (or even if I don't) the wait till the third week to suggest this part is a good idea. Kudos to you.

I join the coalition. Perhaps an alliance with TAGb? We'd be willing to support this cause.

I am here to officially show my complete opposition to this coalition and to explain why such opposition.
This idea, if completed successfully, will not benefit anyone besides computer manufacturers, and I strongly oppose ideas which will bring more harm than good.
To start, there is no indication that a PC is better than a Mac, actually, all proofs show us that Macs are better than PCs, but unnecessarily expensive. As Dan already has a Mac, making him buy a PC would make him spend money for an inferior product.
Even if PCs were really better than Macs, Dan is probably used to work on Macs since he started using computers. Promoting a system completely alien to him would cause him major setbacks and probably slow down his pace of videos and cause him constant frustration.
I can assume that, if Dan is working on a Mac, he is probably using Mac specific software to do his work, for example, I think he might use Final Cut Express to edit his videos. By forcing him to change to a PC, he would have to acquire new software, and we all know that advanced video editing software in Windows ain't cheap. Furthermore, each video editing software has different interfaces, different menus, different details, and in result we end up with the problem of using alien software to which he isn't used to. This problems also applies to any Mac specific software he might use.
To complete my statement, I think this coalition is basing itself on a very short sighted, we could almost say level 3, premise, and the only way to make sense would be if it had been posted by Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer. I hope you come to your reasoning and see that this coalition is a bad idea which would cause major setbacks in Dan's personal and professional life, and that we are making coalitions for the opposite reason, that is, to improve Dan's life wherever we can.

This just seems like an ego boost to PC users with inferiority complexes. There's no benefit, except some saleman gets an extra 30 cents commission from the deal.
I don't get the point!

The biggest issue I see with this, taken from radicallyBlue, is a software shift. Dan has a contract with Revision3. He needs to give them videos within a certain time frame. He uses Final Cut, which is Mac specific. He works very fluidly in Final Cut as it's the only software he has used for years.
Switching over to an equivalent software for PC, such as Premiere, would really really really slow down his production. If there's a conflict with Revision3 and Dan, that's not a good thing.

Honestly everyone who has posted in favor of macs is just being ridiculous. you cannot just blindly make accusations about how a mac is better than a pc. they both have there benefits and both have there flaws. its really a matter of opinion.

I don't even see the point of anyone joining after this. that would be really bad if contract is broken

nobody ever suggested a quick change. Why can't Dan ween himself off of using final cut? For example, continue to use final cut until he is comfortable enough with another software. Or an even simpler option would be to have an exception in the rule and use final cut on the mac only and do all of his other work and things on the pc.

Uh...Are you kidding? Have you even LOOKED at the cause that you're supporting??? So you can just say "PC is better", but we can't just say "Mac is better?" Oh man, this is gonna turn into nothing but another PC vs Mac thread so fast.

they both have there benefits and both have there flaws. its really a matter of opinion. Thing is, it's NOT! In context, it comes down to what you're doing. It's already been mentioned that Dan uses Final Cut. These programs like Final Cut, Premier, Vegas 9 etc. are really freaking big programs that take months of not years to master. So having him switch not only the machine and OS, but to an alien editing interface just cuz a bunch of naive PC kids like to hate on Macs...This. Is truly stupid.
