Ok so the hole point of this coalition is to get Dan, for no real reason to go to a shop and get a PC. Well that's an intelligent and insightful episode that I'll be looking forward to. My favourite part was when he walked in to the shop and said "can I have a PC please" and then he got one THE END.
So this is entirely about you proving a point, whether it's about you forcing your personal preference on some one or if it's about proving that just because you have been given some sort of control over his life that your have to waste the time of both viewers and Dan to your own ends.
I asked for a justifiable reason for him to get a PC, not "Dan should spend his money on one for the LOLZ".
Grow up, Dan 3.0 was made for better things than this. I even proposed that he should build a PC because that at least would be informative and interesting for both him and the viewers but you didn't comment on that.
I propose that Dan starts taking heroine just because... I propose that Dan starts drinking heavily before he films/uploads his videos... I propose that Dan should take all of his money out of the bank and burn it... I propose that Dan should walk the streets at night and offer sex to strangers for money...
Whew all this power is going to me head.

We don't want him to buy a PC just because, we want him to buy a PC because PCs and Macs are better and worse than the other in some ways, and if he got a PC he would have the good parts of both. That is the reason, and it has been posted many times.

Yes there have been plenty of comments saying each is better than the other and there have also been those which occupy the middle ground saying "each has it's own strengths".
BUT you still haven't given a real reason for him get a PC and explained how that is going to be an interesting thing to make him do. You haven't really sold the idea at all or justified the money he'll have spend on it.
All your arguments have been:
he should get a PC It'd be good if he had both
both of which are non-arguments
Hell I've put forward more ways of making this interesting than you and I think the whole thing is a shameful ego-rubbing contest by victims of a ridiculous brand war. And you may deny that it is you personally trying to start something or claim that you want the arguing to stop, but you've essentially started something which is fuelling this which should it reach youtube with it's massive audience of opinionated anonymous morons is only to make things worse. It's not even an argument in the form of a constructive debate it'll just be both sides shouting out opinions and insults with an almost religious fanaticism assuming that because they have made their point that they're right.
Now explain to me how Dan buying a PC will be both useful and make an intelligent entertaining video because I'm sure a lot people will agree with me that watching him go to a shop buy something or watch him order something online is going to be pretty boring. You may as well just sit there and watch him install windows on his Mac because it's to the same end really.
My reasons for him not to get a PC are:
1) The very fact that this is fan fuelled giving him no real choice in the matter which gives a negative image of his fans as being consistently a bunch or "brand-whores" which will intern facilitate more pointless arguing and trolling within youtube making the whole D3P0 experience less enjoyable.
2) It's money that could be better spent on a much more interesting task, especially considering some of the bigger projects, such as travelling, will quite easily get expensive.
3) It doesn't make for an entertaining episode
4) It doesn't make for an intelligent episode
5) He already seems to have an efficient way of working with his Mac and swapping around operating systems will only make the process slower for him
6) He has to pay a lot of money for all the software that he'll need to get it to do what he needs/wants and let's face it the free software is never as good and pirating doesn't really send out the right message does it.
7) Once it's done a bought that's it. He owns a PC but there isn't really any way to make it a recurring feature past that first episode or at least not one that's interesting.
8) You could pretty much achieve the same end by installing a copy of Windows on his Mac - It'd be less expensive but equally as pointless.
9) The main advantage to having a PC is gaming and do we really want him spending his time playing games instead of making videos or do we really want to watch videos of him playing games. Which in it's self creates a whole new plane for the existing PC/Inter Console gamer's debate (I say debate to be polite, it's just a case of people slagging each other off)
So if seriously your argument is for to get one so in your eye's it's somehow 'fair' then that's extremely short sighted and to be honest a tad selfish. Stop being defensive all the time and put at least a little effort into widening the goals and improving your own coalition or your just going to come across as a little fan boy and lets face it the fact you've got a picture of Bill Gates in your signature doesn't really help that image.

Our argument isn't to make it 'fair', it's just that we reckon it would be good for Dan if he had a PC and a Mac.

Struwwel got bored of arguing for the sake of it and will now agree with the irrefutable logic and unquestionable reasoning behind Pccoalition's plan....
Oh you sure made me look foolish.

#1. Who would ever go back to using a PC. That's just nuts. #2. If he needs to run a different OS (ie. Windows) that iMac can't boot it up no problem, or even runs parallels. Theres's no better looking PC than a Mac.
Plus he is editing video in Final Cut, got to go Mac obviously.

OK so here is my two cents. The reasons i am going to give are in favour of Dan getting a PC but draw on things people in this thread have already said. First i think Dan should Build the PC as Struwwel has already said. I think it would be a good idea for Dan to BUILD a PC for the following reasons. It would involve Dan being hands on with the project and active with the community in asking for help and giving progress updates. It would have Dan learning skills and gaining more knowledge on computers. The computer built could be updated at a later date which would involve the community again. Dan could post video tutorials on what he has done which could help other people out who may be wishing to build a PC. Other members of the tribe could also post tutorials to help Dan and other members. This could lead to a sort of Q&A tech support thing who knows. What i was thinking could be done with the PC after it is built means it doesn't have to be amazing it can be a cheap build. Also there is the possibility for people to send spare parts to Dan for him to use. So the better parts parts sent the better the build will be. So you might be thinking why would people donate computer parts well heres the thing. What i believe Dan should do with the PC afterwards is he should make it a permanent folding@home PC. Heres a couple of links to explain. folding.stanford.edu/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folding@home As people have said why spend money on a PC when that money could be used to help people, well this will hopefully satisfy the criteria of helping. Plus if we set no budget to Dan's build then he will be able to choose how much money to spend as the better PC the more help is given. SPOTM could create its own FOLDING team so other people can join in. Plus there are score and ranks, so goals can be set each month for Dan or the team to achieve and the best could be given a prize like a signed Rubik's cube from Dan. pccoalition stated that he never meant for this to become a PC vs Mac war and by doing things this way it completely takes out the argument for which is better and changes to a thought of how can i be of more help. Anyway this is what i was thinking and if this happened i would gladly support the coalition. However saying just because its fun would alone not be a good enough reason i think, but being involved in helping build a PC would be fun on top of other reasons as well.

I am here to officially show my complete opposition to this coalition and to explain why such opposition. This idea, if completed successfully, will not benefit anyone besides computer manufacturers, and I strongly oppose ideas which will bring more harm than good. To start, there is no indication that a PC is better than a Mac, actually, all proofs show us that Macs are better than PCs, but unnecessarily expensive. As Dan already has a Mac, making him buy a PC would make him spend money for an inferior product. Even if PCs were really better than Macs, Dan is probably used to work on Macs since he started using computers. Promoting a system completely alien to him would cause him major setbacks and probably slow down his pace of videos and cause him constant frustration. I can assume that, if Dan is working on a Mac, he is probably using Mac specific software to do his work, for example, I think he might use Final Cut Express to edit his videos. By forcing him to change to a PC, he would have to acquire new software, and we all know that advanced video editing software in Windows ain't cheap. Furthermore, each video editing software has different interfaces, different menus, different details, and in result we end up with the problem of using alien software to which he isn't used to. This problems also applies to any Mac specific software he might use. To complete my statement, I think this coalition is basing itself on a very short sighted, we could almost say level 3, premise, and the only way to make sense would be if it had been posted by Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer. I hope you come to your reasoning and see that this coalition is a bad idea which would cause major setbacks in Dan's personal and professional life, and that we are making coalitions for the opposite reason, that is, to improve Dan's life wherever we can. There is no better way to say this. The idea of making Dan go out of his way to buy another computer, when he already has two great computers is odd. Also, I don't know if you realize this, but Dan edits all his videos using Final Cut Pro, a fantastic video editor ONLY for Mac computers. Making him get a PC would be quite useless, since he couldn't even use it for videos or his online life... he'd just use it for... Well, I have no idea what he'd do with it.
