...wat.
Wow. <_<
My first guess for why he didn't want Michael (and Kasey) to join him is because Dan and Danielle wanted to be alone (you know, besides the gatherings). Which is understandable, but shouldn't have mattered if Dan agreed Michael would help him until mid-November. Either way, wth? :\
I would like to know Dan's side of the story, so I voted. I doubt it will make it to the top, though.

HAHAHA MICHAEL ARANDA IS AN EFFING BEAST!
Dan is a jerk for kind of just shrugging it off and putting someone who seemed to be a good friend of his into a poopy financial situation.

WHAT THE --!!! I also noticed his absence, but seeing that no one said anything, I thought he'd be catching up or something... I demand an explanation.

Vote on this task too! We have to make him TALK!!!1!!eleven! Well, at least they should solve their problem and if they'd like to, tell us. But Dan should do the right thing and try to get things back on track...

Aranda's working on a music project with a band; I can't remember the name of it. Anyway, Dan said this on the live show.. Michael might join up again later in early - mid 2011.

Double post! Just check the decision engine. It's getting flooded with Michael-related tasks. This is mine.

It looks like the task James submitted is still the only one at 100% approval rate. Did I just jinx it? Maybe.

guys, I agree that it was a pretty mean thing to do to leave Michal out of work and break the verbal agreement that they had, but think about it from Dans POV.
If Michal and his girl friend were to come on the trip, the whole thing would be a lot more expensive and uncomfertable for a few reasons:
First: they are traveling in a very small car. If there were four people, two of them would always have to sit in the back, making for journey full of cramped legs for everyone. Second: Food costs would be twice as much Third: They would need another hotel room. Even cheap motels can run $60-80 a night. A decent one can be in the $100-150 range. Fourth: Dan doesn't even need Michal anymore. With Daniel around to hold the camera, and 99% of each video being taken within the half hour meet ups...does it make sense to have two very expensive people (expensive for the reasons I said above) along to do very little editing?
I think it would have been better for Dan to wait until the verbal contract with michal was over before he started on the road trip, but then of course the viewers would still complain about why isn't Dan doing any big tasks.
My proposition is that Dan should publicly apologize in one of his videos, and send Michal some money to tide him over. Dan can upload the raw footage for his show onto torrent or FTP so that Michal can still do the editing work that they agreed on.

Still, Dan should have probably explained this to Michael as soon as possible instead of leaving him wondering if he had a job for so long. Maybe there is something we don't know, but from the information that is out there, It seems like it was a real douche move from Dan... Nevertheless I do agree with the second part of your post. Dan should apologize and send some money to Michael in compensation.

I was shocked when I heard about this (purely from the youtube comments) So shocked I actually decided to go and see these forums It really sucks for michael, was sort of mega unprofessional to not have a contract signed for something like that. Dan really should have told him everything that was going on, super immature of Danny boy to do that.

There's most likely at least slightly more to it than what Michael wrote. I'm 95% sure Dan will be addressing the whole situation soon... but he probably will talk to Michael first.
