I love this idea and I'm all for it! The book I'm gonna throw out there for an idea is A Million Miles In A Thousand Years by Donald Miller. Now, a lot of Don's books are about Christian faith and from what I've seen, most people on SPOTM aren't Christian, but this book is different. In A Million Miles, Don writes about what makes a good story, not just in literature, but living a good story and making a difference in life.

There was a book thread on the old moon, so you might want to check out the archive for book recommendations. I'd link it, but I can't access it right now for some reason. EDIT: Right, linkage: southpoleofthemoon.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=623

I have a question. Are we wanting to read any kind of books or just books with a deeper meaning to them? 1984 Everybody should read it, a classic and very telling of teh poles stance on net neutrailty I've been wanting to read 1984 as well as Brave New World, so you probably have my vote as of now haha.

Okay, I want in on this. I've got 3 suggestions, and if they are to be read, they should be read in succession in this order.
Angels & Demons by Dan Brown The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
Yes, I realize that the author has the same name as our tribe's founder. And yes, I also realize that pretty much everyone knows about that little cowinky-dink. But still. The Dan Brown that wrote those books wrote some amazing books. I think we need to read them, too. (Oh, yeah, and I already read them but I'd still be able to participate in talks about them.)
I'll suggest some things I haven't read at a later date.

And besides, I didnt like them.

anyone know the name of the book dan was reading. It was yellow and I cant remeber the name of it. I think it was called We Think. I actually read the book and it was quite good, but as I said in the video above, I don't want to influence the book choices

Uhm, I have read 1984 and I wouldn't mind reading it again. Also, books with a deeper meaning are what we are looking for, but they could be fictional, like 1984 or Ishmael

Not to put this idea down, because I think these books were really good stories, but I don't really think these books will help us try to end world suck. I have read them, along with one of my Art major friends in college, and many of the "facts" were distorted in these books. But I will include "Dan Brown Books" in the running. We will let the people vote. I wouldn't mind reading them again!
