That has nothing to do with it. It makes more sense grammatically. You just contradicted yourself. You said "I think Pogotribe should stay because it makes more sense than South Pole of the Moon" then when I ask you to explain, you say "It has nothing to do with it" And you still aren't explaining your points. =/ Sorry. (Also, sorry if I sound as if I'm bashing you for disagreeing. I'm not, I just want more clarification) @bree: Why is Tribe essential to the name? Anywho, even if it is essential, that doesn't make POGO essential to the name. In fact it's the opposite. Barely any of us here are interested in pogosticks, and if I told my friends about POGOTRIBE they would be like "Since when did you get a pogo stick?" No, I never contradicted myself. And I have explained my argument, you just can't understand it for some reason.

I didn't say "Tribe" was essential to the name, I said I liked it. And if I told my friends about SOUTH POLE OF THE MOON they would be like "Since when are you into space? What does the south pole have to do with anything?" etc. (I know, ridiculous argument, but only equally as ridiculous as the one I'm trying to rebut ) Things like names is very hard to leave up to a democracy. You'll never be able to please everyone when there are so many people. It has to be left up to a dictator.

The banner has both "PogoTribe" and the lunar south pole, so I see no problem with people calling us one name or the other. They are both equal in my eyes. And they are both the official names for our community.
I don't really see what all the fuss is about.

Personally I preferr the name South Pole of the Moon to Pogotribe, because SPOTM sounds more mature. The name SPOTM gives a more intellectual touch to the site rather than Pogotribe. Then again it is just a name.
To the people saying it doesn't sound good, "This is the South Pole of the Moon" and "Welcome to the South Pole of the Moon" sounds just fine.

When I first came to this forums, it was through Dan's link in the dooblydoo. I had never seen his tribe videos.
I saw a huge banner saying POGOTRIBE. I saw forums like Tribes and Projects. I had heard Dan talking about some Pogo sticking forum, so I guessed this was that.
A month later, I saw Dan's tribe video playlist. Mega headdesk. Really.

@bree: But the moon is symbolic. People will hear it, and they won't think it's a forum actually about the moon, they would understand it as some sort of symbolic thing. Pogo on the other hand, can literally be mistaken for pogo sticking. @chaos: You gave me your arguments, but you didn't explain why you believe in those arguments. And now you're just agreeing with people who have the same view as you. DON'T BE A ZOMBIE! @francisco: Lol! Perfect example to demonstrate my point to Bree. @bree (again): People WILL mistake this website for a website about Pogo's, it's an easy mistake to make, unless we scrap that name completely. People won't look at "south pole of the moon" and think "It's a forum literally about the south pole of the moon" because people aren't that stupid. TheIslander: Yes!

Cameron, this really isn't something you can argue yourself into. You ignored my last statements.

I think it's because of the embedded words in the name. Pogotribe has tribe in it, so automatically gives the feeling of community. South Pole Of The Moon is a location, and you can't say we are a location.

I'm definitely not trying to call you out, I'm just saying that you need to clarify what you're saying so that it can contribute to the ideas we're discussing. AKA names. Yeah kthx.

Ok ok ok, hold on, stop the presses people!
Why change it? Pogotibe is short sweet and to the point. SPOTM is a mouthful and pogotribe gives the sensation that we are a tribe because we are. And pogo does not necessarily mean pogo sticks. Did you know that there are three Pogopedias? There is ours and then there is anoother one about Walt Kelly and a third one about Pogo.com which is a flash games website. So pogo doesn't have to refer to pogosticks.
Also back to the whole mouthful part of SPOTM, adding tribe onto that just makes it longer. Saying S-P-O-T-M is weird and people who doesn't know what the acronym is for might think it's something wierd and saying spot M is a very strange robotic noise. Therefore I vote we don't change it.

Actually most of us (or at least those I've heard on Skype) pronounce it Spot Mm. So Spot Mm Tribe isn't much of a mouth full. It's the same syllable count as Pogotribe.

I say that we don't change it. For one thing, we're known by both names, but most likely as the PogoTribe. We're called the PogoTribe because Dan Brown, the founder of SPOTM is also known as pogobat and he introduced the concept of our being a tribe. Add a little portmanteau magic and voila! PogoTribe.
But if the majority do want to change the name, I second 'MoonTribe.'

I think the title of this thread be-gets bad responses before people read it, so I'm going to change it.
IslaFahlia: I know why we're called this, but we're trying to individualize the tribe. Make it it's own entity. Not a Dan Brown fan club.

It became it's own entity through it's name though. Don't fix what isn't broken right?
