I don't see a problem with any of this. PogoTribe is who we are. You can call us whatever you want, but we ARE the PogoTribe, no ifs ands or buts about it. The South Pole of the Moon is where we are (symbolically, at least). I AM a member of the SPOTM, but I'm much more than that, I'm a member of the PogoTribe. The SPOTM is a forum. The PogoTribe is a community. (For the record, I am not opposed to referring to ourselves as cornmuffins. Delicious.) Pogotribe is a very dumb name. That's the problem. Give me a measurable reason of why PogoTribe is "a very dumb name".

The PogoTribe includes all members on SPOTM, Youtube, Twitter, or anything.
SPOTM is this forum, just one of the many PogoTribe outposts.
We are the PogoTribe. This is SPOTM.

You are here because of Dan Brown. Dan Brown enjoys pogosticks. Much more importantly, Dan Brown's YouTube name, how you discovered Dan Brown, is pogobat. We are not exclusively Dan Brown's community, true, we are a community kicked off by Dan Brown, but being the founder of the group, he gets to brand it as he sees fit. He branded us the PogoTribe. The PogoTribe has nothing to do with pogosticks. The PogoTribe is a portmanteau of the founder's username, pogobat, and the concept of a tribe. This leaves us with PogoTribe. Fin.

"This isn't about me, it's about you. Just try to ignore the fact that the whole community is named after me and that DBU is slapped on the forum banner."

Right. It's a community that he created. It's not about him, but that doesn't change the fact that he created and branded it. If we all decide at some point that the concensus agrees that PogoTribe no longer fits us, then fine. But right now you're just mincing words, we're still enough of the same community we started as; hell, we ARE the community we started as, to go by our initial name.

It's still a dumb name.

Ah, there we go. The inevitable resort to the "NO U!" argument. I can see where you're coming from in us being named after a device that almost none of us hold any interest in. But the name doesn't literally mean we're a tribe of pogostickers, and if that's how it feels to you, then I'm sorry.

I've dropped the pogostick argument. Pogo is a dumb word. Pogotribe sounds like a kindergarten class name.

I think PogoTribe phonetically rolls off the tongue quite well. Would you rather go the way of my triad? We're the Floccinaucinihilipilificators, which is indubitably more intelligent than "pogo". Still, it doesn't have the same flair and familiar feel.

Long word =/= intelligent. It's a really bad name.

I, and many others respectfully disagree, and I believe that's as far as this one is gonna go.

This isn't mass media marketing. We don't decide these names looking at advertising principles of brand recognition and staying power. These names are symbolic and personal within the tribe/triad. You're looking at this like we're gonna market PogoFlakes or Floccinaucinihilipilificators brand shoes.

Maybe that's a good thing. It's a nice reminder for us not to take ourselves too seriously, even when we're engaging in very serious world-changing initiatives.

The best way to solve this problem is by creating a new thread in which people can only post what they think the name of the pogotribe should be (including pogotribe).
People can edit it if they realize they like a name better than another. A deadline is set, and when finished someone counts the votes and the decision is made.
That way there wont be any doubt as to what the majority of people think, and agree with.

If you don't like the name Pogotribe, you can call it SPOTM, moontribe, SPOTMtribe, whatever you want.
