Yeah, take travian, it's totally a community game, you can't win without a team and it's the best teams that win. So you'd think there'd be a lot of level 4 behavior? Pretty much... but... it's very much "We are awesome, everyone else sucks THEY ARE EVIL/WEAK/STUPID AND WE WILL KILL THEM! HOW DARE THEY!"
I'm not sure how good training that is for life. I know someone from there (i'm gonna try and get her to join us) who plays in a totally stage 5 manner, she'll allow anyone into her alliance who is nice and even if they're terrible at the game she's awesome at it and a top 10 Roman on the server so she brings all the little players up and makes them good too.
The level 1, 2 and 3 tribes get destroyed very very quickly. Even if people don't share the team spirit and sentiment they have to behave like they do because solitude = death and failure.
If only there was a version where my friends strategy of helping everyone was more of an obvious winning one, and the "we kill kill kill the enemy" strategy wasn't so useful.

chaos: that's awesome, however, i'm using my email inbox now to sort people into their roles... so a small email from an email adres i can respond to would be nice... tyrope@sog-team.comrabbitwho: teamwork is indeed something i aim very high... maybe we should make a "creation" game, instead of a "destruction" one... maybe one aimed at.. building cities and outsmarting your opponents on the resource/blueprint market, instead of on the battlefield? ideas... ideas... edit: for a clan system: countries.

So you mean something like RuneScape?
I fancy myself a creative writer of things. If you're still looking for writers, I'm certainly interested in this.
As for Genre, I like the whole Fantasy Genre myself. Something where you can choose a different race to be based on whatever advantages or disadvantages each my have, as well as a profession determining your skills.

The 'you are awesome, and so is everyone' gets people back to either sims (Haha, I threw the guy in the pool, he drowned.) and the.. Harvest moon game, if I recall correctly. Also Farmville has the 'everything is awesome' thing. It does get kind of boring to play games like that, we all know it.

I am currently studying to be a graphic artist, specifically for MMO's.
I am fluent in HTML and CSS.
I am fluent in French and Japanese.
I would LOVE to do that.
In all seriousness, I have the time and abilities to help with this project. I have played many MMO's, including World of Warcraft, Flyff, MapleStory, Perfect World, Runescape...
I also have many ideas for such a game. A good MMO has a lot to do, or else the player would get bored. RuneScape and World of Warcraft both have multiple skills and things to do, they don't just focus on one thing. If you're going to make a really good MMO, it has to be like a whole nother world.

Do you really think that if we don't attack each other than we have a shortage of enemies? Human beings have enough enemies, other human beings should not be our enemies. We can fight diseases, global warming, and things which infect people like selfishness and greed. When Sonic jumped on the robots he freed the animals trapped inside of them. This game could fight worldsuck if we all focus on coming up with a plot where the enemies are not other human beings but representative of the real life enemies that human beings face.

So, here's a few things I came up with reading your posts, please use ++ and -- for voting on stuff (e.g.: ++idea1, -- idea2)
1) Lots of stuff to do 2) Other players are not your enemies, battlewise. (maybe trough other methods, like trading? but then i'd be more like rivalry.) 3) Fantasy setting 4) Simulation feeling (the sims, simcity, etc.)
also: add things you think are important, keep this list here though, i'll throw in a votecount every 2 days.

I had an idea, i know people like to play against other people because they're competitive.. but maybe you could at least make a game that necessitates being at a level four. So maybe at the start you choose a side, for example you choose to be the disease or you choose to be the cells in the body fighting the disease or you choose to be medicine. Either way the team that work together the best is the team that wins.

Either way the team that work together the best is the team that wins. and then have rounds of a certain length, to keep things fair? (say, 3-4 months) I like that idea... i like it alot. 1) Lots of stuff to do [0] 2) Other players are not your enemies, battlewise. [0] 3) Fantasy setting. [0] 4) Simulation feeling. [0] 5) Team-based gameplay. [0] 6) Rounds and resets [0] Don't forget to vote on ideas (++ and --)

after seeing that TED video, I'm convinced that with a good concept you can indeed influence people to decrease worldsuck around them in real life. I'm not a game-creator myself, but I'm sure someone here is creative enough to come up with the perfect concept!

If you'd read the topic, we discussed how battling other players would result in Lv3- thinking, which we do not want, maybe, in a later version i could add a way of battling random server-played settlements, where one fights for resources or something similar. oh and please, people, feel free to make edits and stuff to the docx file, just make sure you change the version (+0.1), add your name in the author part (i edited the file, so it holds a "credits" page.). Version 1.1 (now in doc format for Word 2003 and earlier versions)

Looking good tyrope, i hope it turns into something awesome. Hi hi, found this on page 5 of this forum: www.urgentevoke.com/It's the game the woman from the video is working on. I bet if you ever wanted advice they'd be nice if you emailed them (as soon as they had time to reply), she seemed like she was operating on stage 5.

that sounds like an EPIC adventure, but as the website says: it's not a simulation, it's tackling real problems. Which is, don't get me wrong, a VERY awesome thing, and i thought about joining, but my scedule is overbooked as-is. so, is there a v1.2 of the concept already out there? or are people to scared to edit my work?
PLEASE DO! there's a pretty set relation between "amount of constructive feedback" and "quality of product", and don't think this is just salesman talk, i had to hear it for 3 hours today (darn school meetings) and after 2.5hr it all made sense. [brainwashed, much?]
so, get your keyboard out and start typing... if you can't upload it somewhere, email it to me and i will.
