With sex, I'd never have this hook-up/meaningless sex sort of thing. I just find it appalling. I totally agree. It's morally questionable to have sex before marriage and you have to deal with the consequences for the rest of your life. Eh, if you're really in a committed relationship, I don't think you have to be married. Look at the gay couples in the world who can't marry.

Yeah, i know, im alright with that, but if it's just this sudden thing that has no future romantic relationship planned, then i think its bad.

Just because it's before marriage doesn't mean it's a hook-up. People date for years before they get married, and having sex with someone you've been dating for months or years would be far from a hook-up.

I'm not talking about people who have dated for months or years. I'm talking about people who just met in a bar or a club or something, they have one drunken hook up, and then nothing ever happens because of it. It may sometimes be hard to avoid, but I just don't think its right. I have no problem with people who have been dating for a long time, I just don't like how people do have random hookups just because they can.

I think if you find it fun, you can do it. It's your choice in the end (unless roofies come into play.) It all depends upon how serious or how meaningful sex is to you. To some it indicates absolutely nothing, to some it indicates commitment and trust. In the end, it's how you interpret sex.

Sex before marriage always ends in disaster. There really shouldn't be an age requirement.

Sex before marriage always ends in disaster. There really shouldn't be an age requirement. If you have sex with a girl before you get married she might get pregnant and then you'll have to deal either with a child when you're not ready or have to pay child support and have the child grow up having a dead-beat father or grow up living without a father. Broken families never work and hurt the kids the most. Also, what if you contract a sexual transmitted disease? Usually people are the most honest with each other after marriage. Finally, sex has a lot of emotional ties with a lot of people. Hope that helps Alex.

Those are fair points. But also remember that some people cannot afford to be married, or are unable to due to some countries' laws.
However, I believe that people *should* be advised of all the risks of sex. People are going to have sex anyways, so its useless to try and stop them. I, however, am not going to have sex unless I'm in a committed relationship. The best way to go is to educate people about the risks, and not shove abstinence at them.

I understand that some people can't afford a marriage. I just don't want any broken families. My cousin grew up without a father because he was shot down while serving in Iraq. Everyday I know he misses his father and when he grows up he's going to have a hard time without a male figure to look up to. While I think that abstinence is the best option, I don't mean to shove it down people's throats. I want people to know the risks that are involved and to make a clear, educated decision about what they will do with their life. I just hope they hear all sides of the story before they go and go voyaging into the vagina

A while back somebody in this thread said that if you ever question your maturity, then you're not ready - 'nuff said

Sex before marriage is a topic that I'm very conflicted on. I think one of the things that everyone can unanimously agree on is this, sex is only acceptable for those who are post-pubescent. The other thing that we can all agree on is that is should ALWAYS be consensual, and not like the ' well..I guess' kind of consensual but the 'Heck yes!!, take dem pants off right now' kind of consensual.
That being said, I thin sex and non-sex-sexual-activity are perfectly normal aspects of modern life, it's healthy,it's emotionally repairing and satisfying and by golly gee is it fun.
I think we need to remember however that sex is not an activity that should be taken lightly, while having sex is normal and healthy having an over-abundance of sex is un-healthy, and has obvious health risks that are both obvious and overly stated in this thread, but it is also emotionally demeaning in most situations and that is, in my opinion, the worst part.
So long as you have a healthy sex life with people whom you care about and care about you, your health, safety and emotions then having sex outside of marriage is not only normal but accepted readily in today's society and I wholeheartedly support you.
just keep these things in mind: -use protection and use it adamantly: zip-lok baggies and a rubber band is not a potential alternative -make sure the person cares about you: 'You ass looks fine in dem jeans' is NOT equivalent to ' I love you' -be sure you really want to do it: If he doesn't have a beard, reconsider -And lastly , make sure THEY really want it: If you don't have a beard they may reconsider

As far as age goes, where I live in Singapore, I believe the legal age for sex is 16. That is, if an 18 year-old male was to have sex with a 15 year old female, regardless if somehow the female had pinned the guy down and forced him to have sex with her, it still would count as statutory rape and the male will be convicted as such.
On another note, I do agree to a certain extent with what. Intercourse should only be had between two parties who recognise it as a symbol of their commitment to one another. It should be treated as such, and while they have every right to participate in it whenever they want, as well as enjoy it whenever they want (I think they would be expected to enjoy it, don't you?), they must only have it with each other. Personally, I think sex before marriage is perfectly fine, as long as both parties in the relationship agree that as far as their relationship goes, marriage is a very real, likely event to occur within the near future. Of course, until they are properly confirmed as man and wife, they should continue to use protection to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
However, it is a known fact that many people do think of sex as something that they can share with many people and thus engage in it with multiple partners over a period of time. While I do think that making it illegal is a bit too stringent, I do think that it should be discouraged. In my community, while there are a few who are waiting for the right person, most seem to think it is okay, and I think it isn't exactly correct to condone it. What do you guys think: As far as people who have multiple sexual partners go, should those who don't support it either a) ignore what they do or b) make real efforts to try and encourage the notion of having only one sexual partner?
