Wow it's amazing how fast that some of the people on this forum/tribe of supposed intellectual people can turn to rude comments. It only took about 91 comments lol. that's just jokes mate, we're not being rude

I agree with harpomarcks about the information thing, at first I thought Dan was just speaking hababalo about this whole flying spaghetti monster and that he was just doing it for laughs. However, when I found out that pastfarianism was a real religion, personally I was shocked and so were my friends. I actually don't know of anyone who truly takes Pastafarianism completely seriously, since it was originally designed as satire to keep religious teachings out of core class studies. One of the core beliefs is that the rate of global warming is inversely proportional to the number of pirates in the world, so that's why when you preach you must be dressed as a pirate (part of the reason I don't believe Dan Brown is a true Pastafarian, he didn't even have an eyepatch!). The creator of this religion argued to his local school board that if they teach Christianity's beliefs in school then it's only fair to teach all religions' beliefs, including Pastafarianism.

by the way...this is a continuation of my post earlier...
people have been asking me why i am so annoyed at dan for the tea time video, and subsequent live show and tweets. its very simple. i am annoyed...because this is a huge deviation from the norm. his videos are rarely if ever immature to this point. his videos are rarely if ever petulant to this point. his videos are rarely if ever idiotic. i hold dan to a high standard.
i have said i do not like dan's continued trolling of all of this, and people have asked me how i could possibly justify myself criticizing dan, if i myself troll rather often. its a valid question and one i shall answer.
i am not followed by over 200,000 people on youtube. i do not run a forum with close to 2000 members. i am not paid by someone to make content. i am not a person who claims to be trying to change the world. i am not a person who is working on a secret project with that very goal. i do not claim to be anyone's leader.
dan is all that and more. dan has placed himself in a position with all he has built up, where he is so much more than just a guy on youtube who makes videos that other people watch...he is a person who brings about intelligent conversation through his videos. he causes other people to think deeply about subjects that they might otherwise not think of. he claims that he wants to create open discussion, and through that help build our community. and the tea time video, and all the shenanigans after it, go against all of that.
he has an opinion of the tea party. that they are racist, and intolerant, and that they and especially their "leader" sarah palin believe that they represent what is the american christian, and that if you do not follow them, then you cant possibly be an american christian. he is perfectly entitled to believe that, whether he's wrong or not. i have no problems with a difference of opinion. but here is where he deviates from the norm. instead of presenting his views, or presenting some facts and opening a discussion, he just bashed the entire movement, left no room for disagreement, and effectively closed the discussion right there. he did not ask for video responses about people's views on the tea party, but rather for people kneeling to the fsm and reciting some drivel. any attempt later at the liveshow to talk about his views on the the party were squashed, and he would steer the topic of conversation on to pastafarianism.
can you see now why i am annoyed? as a person who claims to start open discussion in the community dan has failed miserably on this count. true there has been some talk here on the forum regarding the tea party but it is largely overshadowed by all the talk about pastafarianism and sarah palin. this is not dan's usual modus operandi. i hope dan realizes his mistake and either rectifies it or never pulls this stunt again. it really doesnt suit him.

Bomb, so your saying that because Dan can reach more people he needs to censor himself and be held to a higher standard? Are you saying he is not allowed to have fun? Wow, bomb. That is low. Even for you.
Let Dan have his yucks. And if you don't want to watch or pay attention, you don't have to.

Bomb, there's already been quite a bit of conversation on both the FSM and the legitimacy of the religion, there's been discussion on the tea party movement, whether or not Sarah Palin is representative of the group (I say yes, but it's a hijacked representation), and just because he didn't 'leave it open' for discussion doesn't mean we CAN'T. Just because he said he WANTED one kind of response doesn't mean you CAN'T post some pretty impressive, well thought responses to his apparent views on the tea party. Just because he's behaving in one way doesn't mean we have to be zombies. I for one have been striving not to be, anyway. Heck, all the conversations I've had on this board? They're a result of Monday's video. I figured it out pretty quick, saw that people writing on his wall WEREN'T, and wanted to take the conversation up elsewhere.

Dan's subscription numbers are going up, although Thursday's video meant that rather than going up by 300 per day, it was 100 a day. I don't get why people are unsubscribing - even if they don't like the content. Because it's the DBU series, so it's probably just Dan trying something out for a week. I expect he'll probably just finish this thing in today's video and that'll be the end of it!

I agree with much of what bombmaniac said. And frankly, I'm surprised that so many people here are willing to go along with whatever Dan wants to do for yucks.
The largest problem with Dan's video was that it was incredibly disrespectful to the topic of discussion (either side). And that is one thing I expect from Dan's videos: respect. So I just hope that after this whole debacle is over Dan makes a respectful video dealing with this issue.

He sort of has a responsibility to enforce the things he stands for though. He can have fun, of course, but it is important that it is in line with what he says he stands for. Dan is a self implied, as Bomb said, supporter of open discussions. But this time around, rather than actually presenting his actual thoughts on the Tea Party Movement, and starting a civilized discussion like before, he's just... being silly. He's basically saying that "this is how stupid the Tea Party Movement is, let's make fun of it!". I'm not saying I'm disagreeing with his views politically on this matter, quite the contrary, however videos such as Dan's Tea Party video is such videos that causes hostility, and polarization rather than agreement in a matter. Like, what did he want to accomplish anyway? Biased bashing, it seems. It does not correspond with what Dan usually tries to do. Dan has himself said that he believes open discussions/sharing eachothers opinions is important, and then he goes and does this? He contradicts himself, and it's not the first time

Doesn't mean I have to watch/listen/read.

Even for you. Let Dan have his yucks. And if you don't want to watch or pay attention, you don't have to. you dont understand. he can have fun, but not at the expense of others. if dan has fun by yelling racial slurs at the top of his lungs in the privacy of his room, then so be it. he's entitled to that. if he posted that on youtube he would be having fun at the expense of others. obviously his vid wasnt him yelling racial slurs...but i hope you have the cranial capacity to understand what i'm saying. They're a result of Monday's video. I figured it out pretty quick, saw that people writing on his wall WEREN'T, and wanted to take the conversation up elsewhere. yes. we are talking about it because we are smart enough to look past the fanboi/girl factor, and my issue is not with the FSM, if he wants to be a pastafarian then so be it. however in his videos, he usually states some facts or opinions and asks for responses on those facts/opinions. anyone with halfa brain in their head can realize that the video was about the tea party...IT WAS IN THE EFFING TITLE! so when he asks people to send vids about the FSM, and overshadows his point with overemphasis on a stupid satire, he is not opening discussion on the tea party in a proper fashion. I lol'd at comments like; "..if your video will be like this, i'll unsubscribe.." .. yeah, let's change opinions because someone said he/she won't listen anymore!? ferre...i am surprised to see that from you. nowhere did i say i would unsubscribe because i disagree with his opinions. i said i would unsubscribe because his videos lately have been very low caliber. I believe that, how ridiculous the Tea Party Movement might be (my own reaction), it is still worth a proper discussion as much as any other discussion topic.
