Ok, so you could make this ham pasta thingamajing i made up (definatley not the first to do this but i didn't get it from anywhere).
You will need some sort of pasta. (I prefer flat spahetti). Some ham. (This is (obviously) the meat part of the meal. Ammount should be acroding to that.) Some Crème fraiche (I like Tomato and Basil flavour).
Boil the pasta (I am going to asume you know how to do this). Chop the ham into little pieces. When the pasta is ready just add the Crème fraiche and the ham, let it reheat and BAM! Ready to serve.
This recepy leavs good room to experiment. You can for ecample use Tortellini. Or natural Crème fraiche whith some Sweet chilli sauce in it.
I hope you'll enjoy// Viktor

I had been putting off joining the community for a long long time, but this was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Being a broke aspiring bodybuilder, I know many cheap healthy eats. If you want to eat like a champ (or just someone in good health) your grocery list might look a little like this:
(in no particular order) 1. Eggs 2. Boneless, skinless, chicken breasts 3. Lentils 4. Milk (Whole or 2%, no reason to drink paint water) 5. Almonds 6. Whatever Mrs. Dash spices are on sale 7. Whatever lean beef is on sale 8. A giant sack of brown rice 9. A giant bag of whatever leafy greens you can find (not iceberg lettuce though) 10. A big bottle of Tobasco (the Chipotle kind is better in my opinion) 11. Sweet potatoes 12. Broccoli 13. Some salad dressings, they don't need to be light, so long as they're used in moderation. 14. A loaf of whole grain bread (the kind that looks like it has bird seed in it) 15. Peanut butter, preferably organic. 16. A giant bottle of Multivitamins 17. Cottage cheese 18. Various fresh fruits 19. A bottle of Fish Oil pills 20. One of those water filters you put on your faucet.
I've accumulated these items over time, I didn't go to a grocery store and buy them all at once. Eggs (hard boiled with a little tobasco on top), tuna, cottage cheese, and leafy greens have become the staples of my diet, and I keep in generally decent health.

WARNING: I KNOW THIS IS ALOT OF READING BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT!
TIPS Okay I have a recipe or two that are easy to cook and do but first I have a few cooking tips (I may only be 14 but I do know a thing or two about cooking so please excuse my spelling/ grammar issues): - make sure you read the hole recipe even before you start with the first thing on the list to do, it helps to save a lot of time. - make sure you have all the tools out before you start cooking - invest in a rice cooker, water boiler (the electric kind that isnt a T- Pot), and a Blender if you dont already have one. It saves time and energy and if you buy a good one they can last for forever (my parents have had both since they were married and now have had them both for 20 years and they still work great) - If you dont know a cooking term look it up, it is a lot better then guessing and ruining the recipe - Alway keep some frozen fruit, a yogurt, and some juice in you freezer and fridge. You can buy prefrozen fruit to put in your freezer that have a variety of fruits. - NEVER go to the grocery store hungry. Studies have shown that if you do you are more likely to get 1) more then you need & 2) More unhealthy foods. So going when you are full can save you quite a bit of money and weight.
RECIPES: FLANK STEAK (w/ marmalade) okay so this recipe is a family favorite because it literally is the easiest thing ever, I almost memorized the recipe, and it tasty like heaven on a plate, trust me: 1 medium to large flank steak 2 or 3 cloves of garlic (either works I like 3 but others like 2) 6 oz can of pineapple juice (6 oz of orange juice works okay as a substitute too) 1 tablespoon ground ginger 1 cups soy sauce 1/4 cup vegetable oil
okay so basically all you have to do is put all the ingredients into a blender (besides the steak) one at a time, starting w/ the garlic (because just trust me it makes life a LOT easier). The others the order doesnt really mater. YEAH YOU MADE THE MARMALADE! Wasnt that easy? Yeah any way so put the marmalade into a very large zip lock bag with the steak ( make sure that the zip lock has enough room for both the steak (spread out) and the marmalade). Then put the zip lock with the steak and marmalade into the fridge and let the steak soak fore AT LEAST an hour, but the more time it soaks the better the flavor. I usually do around 3 hours or so but one works fine if you dont have the time. Then once the meat finished soaking, grill it unill it is cooked to your liking. If you dont have a grill I think a stove would work fine (though I have never tried it before so it would be a bit of a test)
SMOOTHIES! Okay so you may be wondering why I said to always keep: ~frozen fruit ~yogart ~& juice in you fridge and freezer at all times. Well a smoothy is a quick, easy, and healthy breakfast or snack and it is fun because you can mix and match and be creative!
FROZEN CHOCOLATE BANANAS & STRAWBERRIES!
Okay I will say this now you probably know how to do this but if not you NEED to know ~A couple whole bananas ~A couple of whole strawberries ~semi sweet chocolate chips (or any other sort of chocolate you may like chopped into small pieces) ~optional: nuts, butterscotch chips, m&m's or anything else you could choose to dip it in
Cut off the end of each banana and put skewers, chopsticks or any sort of stick into the banana and them on a plate with some strawberries. Put a few cups of semi sweet chocolate chips into a microwaveable bowl and then heat the chocolate up until it is smooth (making sure to stir it every 30 seconds or so). Then dip the banana's and strawberries into the chocolate and then any other sort of dipping option, and then place them back on the plate. Put the plate in the freezer and let them sit for at least 30 minutes.

I think your "grocery list" should consist of pasta (its good to have different versions for different recipes but go with whatever you think you'll use most), rice, either canned halved (or whole) tomatoes or fresh (I prefer fresh unless its for a stew, then canned works perfectly), beans, garlic and olive oil. Now this is a very basic list but it has most of the bases for any dinner type of dish.
now meat is probably the hardest because its the most expensive and more of an important part of a dish but if you don't have meat on hand, I'd add chicken breasts in bulk preferably because there's tons of varying recipes that you can use them in. Try to look for them on sale in the weekly ads?

Hey Dan, you could very well go cultural with this! Such as, if you wanted to learn an easy recipe, i would suggest Oni-giri, a fancy term for riceballs. All you really need is rice and a filling such as canned tuna and soy sauce, or something like that! You basically make rice, let it cool until you can touch it, and then you take your hand, or a egg cup with a layer of plastic wrap. Then, in your hand or cup, put a small amount of rice. Then, some filling, then more rice. If in your hands, squeeze it together, until it looks like a ball. If in the egg cup, press down, and then remove from the egg cup! easy, and then you can either eat them warm, or put them in the fridge. i also suggest you go to a book store and pick up a betty croker cook book. That way, if you want to try something new, it has the information!

You have my boyfriend to thank for this recipe. It's very very easy to make, doesn't take very long and it's pretty cheap too. Ingredients: -1 Lamb chop -Rocket salad -Dressing -1 Tomato -1/2 Cucumber -Feta cheese (I'm sure you can get a value type also known as Salad Cheese if you think this is expensive ) -Pitta bread -Black pepper -Rosemary Directions: 1. Get your lamb chop and fry it in a frying pan for 7 minutes (heat up olive oil beforehand) 2. Chop up half a cucumber and the tomato and put it in a bowl with cubes of feta for a simple Greek salad. 3. Once the lamb is done, serve with a couple of bits of rosemary for flavour and apply black pepper if you want any more. 4. Toast the pitta bread and serve with the lamb. 5. Serve the rocket salad on the side with the lamb and apply dressing if you wish. Humus can also work here, but you can pretty much experiment a bit/mix and match to suit your tastes. I have a feeling if you use everything it would be too OTT. We used everything apart from the rosemary and the humus. Enjoy!

If you get pasta, I'd go for the whole wheat variation, or the kind made from brown rice flower. It's the same price, tastes the same, and is better for you.

You could make chicken fried rice. It's just rice, chicken, eggs and vegetables. BUT IT'S REALLY REALLY YUMMY!!!!! ;D It's really easy to make, you just take cooked rice and mix it with the other stuff. Here is my recipe for it:
2 eggs 2-4 green onions, sliced 2 cups of cooked rice 1 cooked chicken breast, cut up into bite-sized pieces 2 strips of cooked bacon 1 Tbsp. Vegetable oil Assorted Vegetables (I recommend) Bean sprouts Peas Bell peppers Corn Carrots
I use a wok to cook in, but a large pot would work too.
Scramble eggs and cook about half way. Then, add green onions. Then add rice, chicken, bacon, Vegetable oil, Vegetables, and soy sauce to taste.
BAM! you're done.

Ingredients: 1 can stewed tomatoes 1 can of green chili sauce 1 can of roast beef 1 can of green chilies 1 can of pinto beans ***** all these are small cans but you can add more/larger cans if you have friends over***
on side: 1 package of tortillas 1 package of cheese (shredded or not and then shred yourself) 1 package of sour cream (optional)
Drain and rinse , roast beef, and green chilies set aside.
In a pot or deeper pan add the green chili sauce, pull apart tomatoes adding a little bit of the sauce inside the can, roast beef, and green chilis to bite sized pieces, add pinto beans (mostly drained).
Add a little bit of the sauce of the tomatoes. and pinto beans so you can add in to flavor it, k? Just a little....
Roll a burrito by taking the tortilla flat on the plate (paper would mean less dishes), adding mostly chunky stuff into it, cheese to taste, and roll. add more burrito mixture on top of it, cheese, and some sour cream. Wahllllaaahhh!
Homemade great tasting Burritos! ******Trademarked so dont try to steal!!!!!!!

I'd say avocado and tomato salad. Just cut up avocado and tomato in about equal amounts, add bacon bits and possibly sour cream, and eat! I enjoy it. You can play around by adding spices and sauces as well

Oh, and also dip. Get a plate, put a layer of sour cream on it, then on that put some thinly sliced lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, and a layer of cheese on top! Then it's fit for consumption with chips. The sour cream can be replaced with cream cheese, but sour cream is the healthier option.

Okay I'm a student so I know a thing or two about quick easy meals.
Simple Pasta Dish You don't really need specific measurements for this, just add how much you feel you can eat. You need: Pasta - What type doesn't matter obv, your preference, but note that spaggetti takes longer to cook. One Carrot One Onion One small pack of minced beef Italian Seasoning Garlic Seasoning Tomato Pasta Sauce.
1. Fill a saucepan with water and put in the pasta, make sure all the pasta is covered. Simmer at a medium heat. 2. Chop the Carrot and Onion up small and put into a saucepan. Simmer at a medium heat. 3. Put the mince into a large saucepan, fry until brown on a high heat. 4. Add Pasta Sauce and seasonings and mix in, it should start boiling immediatly. Take the saucepan off the heat. 5. By now the pasta and veg should be cooked, drain them and mix them in with the mince and sauce. 6. Put on a plate and eat.

Not sure if this has been suggested yet, but one of my personal favorites is chili. Fairly quick and quite easy to make. Also, if you eat it with rice, you get all the proteins and whatnots you need for a complete meal. Plus it's super yummy.
I couldn't find the recipe I use online, so I'll just type it out quickly:
1 lb ground beef 1 cup chopped onion 1 cup chopped green pepper 2 cloves garlic (or minced garlic from a jar) 2 cans tomato soup 1 can corn 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed 1 1/2 tablespoon chili powder 1 tablespoon vinegar
Fry hamburger in large pot, drain. Add onion and green pepper to hamburger, fry for a few minutes. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Heat to boil, reduce heat to low. Cover and allow to simmer for 25 minutes, stirring often.
If you want it spicy, add chopped jalapenos or dried chili flakes with the onion and green peppers.
Good luck!
