The way it's turned is essential. b and d are not the same n and u are not the same p and q are not the same But I think the core of the issue is the danger that fanaticism brings, and that's universal. Love and hate may be opposites but sometimes there is a thin line between them. We need to be forever vigilant and not let any language or tools of hate into our minds.

Personally, the whole reason this thread continues to get replies is because many people get very worked up over words, which carry no worth and many times do not matter late in life. "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me," a motto MANY people are too feeble minded to grasp and utilize. now of course, lies those are words that usually carry more emotional power, because it falls into a different scope honestly, but general insults or derogatory slander, it is all not important in the long run. Just keep awesome, be better than insults

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me," I just gotta say this is the dumbest motto out there. It is given to little kids so that way when you are 8 and you fall on the playground and all the kids call you a baby for scraping your knee and crying, you can deal with it. I've been hurt with words MUCH more than with physical attacks. The words themselves don't hurt, but the tone, the attitude, and the reasoning behind the words do.

I'll write two scenarios. Tell me, which one do you think would hurt worse?
Scenario 1 You're riding your bike through your neighborhood on a cool spring morning. You feel that something weird is going on with your chain, so you drop your head for a second to check it out. When you lift your head back up, BAM. You hit a big-ass pothole. Your back wheel comes up, and you are thrown over the handle bars. You hit that cement with your knees, hands, and face. You now have to recover from a concussion, and several scrapes.
Scenario 2 Your brother dies in a car crash. When your family gets the news, your father becomes furious. He collapses to his knees, puts his hands on the floor, and begins to weep. He mumbles something, but you have a cannot understand him. Your mother asks him in a soothing voice, "What did you say?" He replies, "The wrong kid died.."

In these situations the first one hurts more. I don't give a SHIRT about family so I honestly don't care about what my father would have to say.

I think of the two, I'd probably deal with the first one better too, but that's becuase my father and I are not close (not that I don't love him, but we don't talk a lot), but it would be painful becuase well, I do care for my brother. a lot.

Well, gay is the short way of saying homosexual, and fag is a cigarette (lol). They can be bad words for some people, it varies. And as for the words changing everyday, it's true, before you know it you call someone something completely out of context and doesn't make any sense. I tend to use the word gay, but not fag because I care for their feelings and it's offensive. 99% of gay people don't think gay is offensive anymore.
