No time to read everything, long story short: RAGE I actually started watching that video thinking "Well damn, he actually grew a pair and confronted one of his problems". Then as it went on.... Running a forum is a part time if not full time job? Wtf? How is... wh.. why.. how... no! just no! Stop being stupid! Also, and this is what kinda pissed me off most, did you just basically say that there weren't enough of us to keep you happy so you decided to go elsewhere where you have more followers? Wtf is wrong with you? Seriously. Guh. Agh. No words. Not enough time. See Asher/Nicks posts. Go to hell, Dan. i love you jean in the least awkward way possible. also, alex, asher does a good job (surprisingly) so stfu.

HE SAW MY EMAILS... I suppose. He addressed precisely the things I wrote to him twice about (same e-mail twice, lol) But yeah... finally, some closure. Thanks for this, Dan, it is quite relieving to me personally to hear/see this, even though it doesn't address the full matter, which includes the things that Nick and Asher wrote about. For them and the other people that up until recently actually tried to make things work I can understand this is not enough. But yeah, okay, fine. You're not coming back. Now I know.

heh I can't believe he actually had the nerve to post one of those "I'm sorry guys... really. But you know, it's not really my fault" videos he's so fond of. But yea, spoke my piece, and I believe asher and I laid it out fairly well.

Yikes. This is what I get for being busy two days.
Dan, I hope that your new project works out (which I doubt, but you never know), but I don't quite accept your apology. I understand what happened and why you left, but that doesn't justify it.

What in the good fucking blazes. This is like catching a re-run of the series finale of your favorite show, without even knowing that it got canceled! Dan: Fuck off, ill watch the vid when I finish downloading it. Asher: Project? Skype me. Jean: My love for you has always been evident. Bree: "Baby come back! You can blame it all on me! Alex: Stay dead or stay here dammit. Nick: I miss you. Seriously though this thread has characters from the first season, flashbacks, the works. Like that time me and asher tried to get this place running "without dan" and well... I could take this as either: "No amount of pep rallies will ever get you people back on board again" or: "Dan is a condescending fuck, and we dont need his bullshit to kill our dream" You guys decide. Edit: Ok I just finished the video and heres what I got to say. Dan, if you're reading this like you say you will be, I want a personal response from you in the form of a reply. Theres something people lose with being famous and thats the notion of equality. There creeps a tiny thought into their brain that grows into a larger one that "Hey, maybe I am better than these people." There are people we dont associate with, because of their attitude, personality, or opinions that we might not find agreeable and thats ok, but to start a community isnt just another way to adress your fans. It seems to me that you're shying away from us because whereas your fans adore you, we find you on equal ground as us. Because you ARE. The reason you dont enjoy getting close to your fans is obvious, its because they are fans and any interaction with them would result in their brains imploding and you probably losing a bit of clothing in the crazed follow up. It's different here. You say you were on a forum for 6 years, but somehow you cant commit yourself to staying on this one for more than 6 months. At this point in your progress into adulthood id say that your defining feature is your career and that career is possibly going to be taking off after a good year or so of delicious steak. You are a bright man with good ideas and wheras the implementing of them is not exactly your forte, you enjoy the discussion. What you fail to see is you can do that here. Spotm died because we had no recognition. This was entirely your fault. But maybe we dont have to be a super awesome world saving charity to still be a pretty kickass community. I've got an offer for you. Yeah, I get it you said your done and now youre running away from your creation like a pussy for fear it will destroy you. Look at the facts, youre a dickhead. But heres the catch, so are a LOT of people here. You'd fit in, we'd have great debates and when they day is done we could all still kick back on skype or play a few rounds of TF2 (still trying to load it onto my comp :'/) Why not instead of trying to lead this place to a new dawn, actually jump off from your high horse and join the fucking community you fucking created? That way you wouldnt look at the bill from proboards every so often wondering why the hell youre still paying it. Dan, we don't need you here, but you are what brought us together so it'd be nice to let you hang with us from time to time. Its one thing to start something and not finish it, but theres nothing to start if you just drop by once in a while like I do. Now to close up, quit being a fucking panzie, and good luck with your show. If you dont wanna deal with us anymore then please, in all essence: fuck off. No one wants someone around who doesnt show interest. Show some and maybe people here will lighten up.

Love you Jean. Totally homo. Also, I don't have something more to say about Dan, since you said it all. I am fairly angry though. I joined this community because it looked promising, not because it was "Dan Brown's forum". I never cared about him or his videos and the people that met me first know it best. When I joined, I hadn't watched a SINGLE video of DB. Exactly, not even the Rubik's cube one, since I can't follow instructions. My brother and Frejman were more helpful on that matter. But alas, I joined a community that would do miracles on its own, without a "Padre" helping it with his presence and leading aura and that community failed because of the lack of a person we DIDN'T NEED FROM THE BEGINNING to start with. I will not only blame him for that, but hell, he spread his laziness and lack of determination on projects. He rubbed off on all of us. His presence wouldn't do much and we'd see it if he were here. His absence caused our demotivational attitude. His absence destroyed us. And I ask you, why should that happen? Why should we act like his fan-based community? I've met loads of people with inspiration, ideas, people with spunk! I've met them all in here and I will remember the moment I messaged Cameron in order to get in his magazine (it didn't really happen in the end, but whatever, I won't get myself started on that), which led me to meet Asher, a man that I appreciate, even if he is a troll sometimes, and then the rest of you. I know that if Dan hadn't made his first video, then his next and next and next and then this forum, nothing would have happened, but that's the only thing I can thank him for. He didn't do anything for me or for the forum other than creating it, establishing faulty leadership and then leaving us to our fate. So why should we follow him like dogs? What does he have to give anyway? Can't we do stuff on our own? He's blaming us for the breakdown of this place, but are we to blame? Yes we are, partly. He should have stayed here, if he wanted this place to be HIS OWN. From the moment he left though, it was up to us to modify and create something welcoming for the crowd, a place with potential, a place in which we'd do something with a meaning. It's not too late. When you're done whining over the fact that Dan can't do SHIRT (p.e. D3P0, this place and probably DS), let's get ourselves together and move on. Don't insult him. He won't see it. The best way to "take revenge" is to get back on working on this place and try to make it big. That way we'll have something we'll be proud of, something stable, something he never had. And that will be poetic justice. Can we do it though? It's all up to you. I am willing to try. EDIT: I lied, there's direct addressing to Dan. Dear Dan Brown, if you'd stop being a diva, things would be better for all of us. Try understanding that you're not better than us. Apology NOT accepted. Nancy A. Romano.

uh, hi.
So basically I think a lot of people here are very upset. Yeah, that's pretty obvious. I don't like the people attacking Dan directly, though. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with what Dan has done to this community, but seriously...part of the reason I basically left is because this entire forum was too attached to him. Everything was either a Dan Brown fan club or a Dan Brown hate club, with the occasional PLEASE COME BACK WE NEED YOU DAN BROWN...club.
Now that Dan has provided closure and is officially gone (and I'm glad this happened) I will probably try to come back to the moon, no lie. I accept Dan's apology and sentiments, even if they were a bit late.
Dan has been inactive for a long time. Now that it's official everybody is pissing themselves. I don't know, just seems strange to me. I understand that you guys are upset, but I feel like this is a good thing - we can move on and actually become an INDEPENDENT community. One that I'd like to be a part of.

I joined a community that would do miracles on its own, without a "Padre" helping it with his presence and leading aura and that community failed because of the lack of a person we DIDN'T NEED FROM THE BEGINNING to start with. I will not only blame him for that, but hell, he spread his laziness and lack of determination on projects. He rubbed off on all of us. His presence wouldn't do much and we'd see it if he were here. His absence caused our demotivational attitude. His absence destroyed us. Dan did not only rub off on us. Dan was the reason the bulk of this community joined in the first place. Communities form around common causes, and in this case, the "common cause" for the majority of members (even though there are exceptions, like yourself) was the fact that we enjoyed Dan's videos. We were, essentially, a fan club. We tried to conform to Dan's idea because we thought it might work, but ultimately, it didn't. And ultimately, it turned out we did not have enough common ground to enforce once Dan was gone. Thus, we stagnated. During the time of its existence this community taught me that you cannot force community. Our main concern was trying to find a common cause for this community to fill the void that Dan left, a matter who shouldn't even exist if we were, in fact, a community with more common ground than the liking of Dan's former video content. While it is true this place has/had people with "spunk", people have been saying from time and time again that "this isn't working out, let's fix it". The spunk people then returned and there was glow once again, but it was there just to fade again and things eventually returned to normal. It has always happened. It has ultimately proven to me that we are trying to hard to catch something that isn't there. We are trying to collaborate but we are too different to actually make the dynamics work. With that not said that we had different intent, but we're different in a lot of other areas. And the fact that we were trying to narrow down a goal from vast and abstract terms (global this, global that, world this, world that), didn't make things easier. Hell, not even elected officials in the highest instances of the world manages to do that today, so why should we? Yes, we can hold grudges against Dan, that he didn't do enough and what not. I'm not defending him on that point; he fucked up and he's avoiding a big portion of the problem. But ultimately holding grudges like that it's not constructive and only does more harm to ourselves than anyone else. We should accept the situation; Dan ain't coming back, and as much as you're not accepting his apology, that's all you're gonna get. At least he finally gathered the mojo and told us that he wasn't coming back. I don't know about you, but personally I mainly wanted certainty, which I now have. HOWEVER, I'm not saying we should stop here and now. I'm looking forward to see what might come out of this, now that there's certainty concerning the Dan situation. If groups now form spontaneously (<- keyword), groups that actually manages to accomplish the things this setting did not, that's great! But we should stop forcing action from this confused community in its current form.
