Lol! Hey Dan! First: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DEL. STEAK Second: Apology accepted. Third: Asher did an EXCELLENT impression of you Four: For the first time in a while, I accepted your explanation. Unlike the Michael Aranda situation, it didn't seem.. Meh, but this was really good. Five: MEHHHHHH Don't leave, man. AT LEAST let Rob be the admin and you just be the.. Guy who is here.. Anyway, welcome, sort of, back. I look forward to your sort-of backness, and will like the.. I dunno, screw it, hi Dan.

Apology NOT accepted. Here's why. You cannot simply waltz back here for one final hurrah. You cannot simply say "whoops" and expect everyone to fall over themselves with forgiveness. You cannot simply say "I'm sorry" and expect people to accept it. So here is what you can do with your worthless apologies: shove them very far up your ass. Nobody wants to hear it. I suppose there is what to be said about the closure you have just given us, but how about the mile-wide crater you just left us? Bad enough you left when you did without warning or explanation, but what you just did was beat a dead horse. Seriously, Dan, name one good reason why this forum should exist? The only reason people still posted here (as seldom as they did) was because there was still that chance that you would assist us. You didn't create a forum; you created a movement. The majority of people who joined South Pole of the Moon joined because you offered a vision of change and progress. Of community building. So we waited. We waited through all your hemmings and hawings, through all your protracted ideas and failures, through all your successes and all your disasters. Why? Because we still had that common goal, that shared vision that we may someday accomplish something real and meaningful. Well, you just shat mightily on all that, didn't you. When the time came to actually put your money where your mouth was, you balked. You failed. You fled. You surrendered. Congratulations, Daniel Scott Zahler Brown, you are an abject failure. Some may call this post harsh. Personally I think you deserve more. Do you understand what you've squandered? You own a forum with nearly five thousand users! Not everyone can claim such power. Fine. You left. Lovely. The "stress" of managing SPOTM got to you. But would it have killed you to at least throw us a promotion, a shout-out every once in a while? Don't even bother with your phony excuses and half-hearted apologies. Apologies are for people who tried. Apologies are for people who feel remorse. Apologies are for people who, given another chance, would do it all differently. None of the above is applicable to you. So shut the fuck up, get the fuck out, and close the window after you. BTW...see my sig

(... you looked kind of nervous there (rightly so, I guess).)
Personally, my activeness came in after you started to slowly dissappear, so I never really expected you to be very active here. Actually, I thought one of your objectives was to enable us to be completely independant from your presence.
In my opinion, we, SPOPTMers are in no way free of guilt of the inactiveness of SPOTM. There was sometimes lack of motivated people, laziness and unwillingness (obviously not from everyone, but from enough people to cripple the efforts of the ones who, at least once, tried), but still, as Asher said: "would it have killed you to at least throw us a promotion, a shout-out every once in a while?".
About your apology: I have some mixed feelings here. As I said, I never really expected you to be active here, so I don't feel like I wanted you to feel sorry for that. And this wasn't entirely your fault. But you still could have done things better, (just read Asher's post above). I'm not sure you tried as much as you could, I feel like you just quit the project, like you just saw a compromise and backed up little by little; I know how that feels, I understand how, suddenly, a project that seemed simple becomes complex, and requires compromise, and more interaction with people than you may have thought it would be needed. However, this was a big project, the one that was suppose to start all the others, the one where a community needed to be born and properly strengthened, one that required people to be responsible and stick to a compromise to wherever it took you. I have to suppose that you really do feel sorry, but this was big, and there was so much room for improvement in the way you handled everything. I'm normally prone to accept any apology that comes from anyone who feels truly sorry... But I honestly don't know what to make from your apology Dan.
You said that the Moon was kind of weird in your "entertainer-audience relationship" scheme, but I hope you understand that, here in SPOTM, you were not an entertainer. When you started this you had to realise the relationship was going to be different, and that you had to be willing to go through the "weirdness" of this new relationship.

Just a couple of thoughts: - If you intended to have a relationship, between the SPOTM and yourself, of "audience and entertainer" without getting "too personal", you shouldn't have created a project in which people ran your life, or at least should have made it clear from the beginning.
- I can relate to having ideas, really looking forward to results, but being too lazy to continue them. That being said when I do it, it just means I don't do my homework or exercise for one day. When you do it, it means you drop out of school, stop a company sponsored project, or let down a few thousand people who were dedicated enough to put aside time to work on things related to you for free. As you can see it is quite different and I would suggest seeking help to resolve it, or else you might end up homeless someday.
- Finally, I think you were right, and this community relied too much on you being a part of it. This was the case, nevertheless, only because that's the way you set it up to be. In a selfish way I am a little bit glad this never got anywhere. If it had, all that work would have only provided you with something to brag about, when in reality the only thing you did is bring us together.
All in all, everyone has pretty much moved on. I still log in from time to time to see the debate section and such, but for the most part nobody does or should care about this place. It once symbolised the youthful dream of those who thought could change the world. Now it's nothing more than a couple of people complaining all the time about something that is sadly out of their control. Thankfully there are other dreams and ways to make a difference. The individuals who still care will eventually achieve their goals or at least try to do so. I honestly think that the worse part about all this is not really that it was a failure, but that you'll never really know if it could have succeeded, but you go on and entertain, and just maybe it won't haunt you for the rest of your life...

If it's any consolation, I can totally relate to starting things then never finishing them, (consequently pissing Asher off xD) I also totally accept the apology. Yes this place could have been destined for awesome, but it doesn't matter anymore. I feel like this place shaped me and is why I am the way that I am so I thank you for that. I can also understand, especially from reading some of the comments in this post, that sometimes things can get too personal. I don't think you deserve some of the remarks you have received here, but I also don't think you shouldn't expect them. Oh well, Google+ is my new community.

this is bullshit *ragequits*
FUCK YOU SPOTM, FUCK YOU DAN, YOU HAVE ALL WAITED A YEAR OF MY LIFE WAITING ON SOMETHING GOOD. I AM NEVER GOING TO MAKE THAT TIME BACK.
this place was supposed to be awesome, but the fact that you had so many drones following you, depending on you for their social survival made this place the shithole it is today. I dont care anymore, go live your fucking life and leave us alone. we can make our own communities and branch off. most of us already have. so guess what? fuck you all. especially you dan, for getting everyones hopes up the crushing them.
oh and this is directed to the dan loving fanboys/girls who still lurk and not the people who were actually set on accomplishing something.

Things promised by Dan on SPOTM: UNLIMITED Things delivered by SPOTM as per Dan: 0
I met some great people. Asher, Rob, Newschooled, and even the youngun Zang who was fun in small doses (love you Zang, no homo). It allowed me to connect to people from mofokin SWEEDEN! How cool is that. However, I joined to add my quirkiness, my extremely limited talents to a greater idea, to a greater purpose... you know all that stuff you promised of how awesome it would be. It never happened.
So in short, you failed. Asher and I and others tried to tell you what was wrong with D3P0 when it was first announced. You didn't listen. We tried to help you through it. You didn't listen. We tried to get you to give us a shoutout or just a little recognition. You didn't listen. We tried to get you to help us in the vacuum you left. You didn't listen. Many left (including me). You took no notice. Some came back including me though just to help in a project for awesome video FROM YOUR OWN COMMUNITY THAT YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN SEE OR KNOW ABOUT. You never looked.
Your apology would have been accepted before you left. Your apology would have been accepted a week or two after you left. However, you threw people into the woods and most likely expected them to wither and die. Well guess what, they didn't. Now that you look back on it you feel sorry you didn't do enough, that not everyone flew the coupe, you regret your actions. Well fine. Regret them all you want but don't look to the few people left here to assuage your conscience.
YOU fucked up. YOU ignored people. YOU wouldn't listen. YOU bailed on everyone here. Give one good reason why people shouldn't ignore you, not listen to you, not bail on you. After all, you aren't a friend. We tried to be friends. Tried to give constructive critiques. Tried to give you comfort in your time of need. But you didn't want that. You wanted an entertainer/audience relationship. You burned your audience, so why should anyone here give two shits about your conscience? The bigger question here is, one you should look in on and think about... how many good FRIENDS did you pass up on because you wanted an entertainer/audience relationship instead of a community? A community. Where so many know so much about each other. Where, while there are those that don't agree, we all try to help each other out, even when it's not the best thing for us. A community of friends, where we take time out of our lives to give it to others.
You failed at friend because you didn't want it. Why should we forgive an entertainer? I feel no reason to do so for Charlie Sheen, nor you.

Well this sucks. Ok, so, I'm not really disappointed considering I haven't been active what so ever for about a year now. But I'd like to throw in my 2 cents. Well, the reason I haven't been active was because of the lack of community. I honestly don't wanna be part of a forum with only a handful of active members, so I added to the problem and stopped visiting so frequently. I guess I accept the apology. I mean if I was part of something and it was getting in the way of something else I liked better, I'd like to pack up and go without everyone getting in a tizzy. I would have liked for this forum to be an extension of your videos along with other things as how the VlogBrothers use your pants to get the community more involved and talking and discussing in a better way than the YT comment section. It really could have strengthened your community and this forum alike to just link to a thread in the description where one could discuss the topic of the video. But I guess its too late for that now. Well, anywho. I met bunches of people because of the moon who are really kewl people and that I will know far beyond the moon ( maybe mercury or somewhere), and thats really the best thing that has come from this and I'm happy this happened. But yeah. Adios.

Dude, did I just get dumped?
Hm. I guess at the end of the day nothing really changes except we know that Dan will probably renew the URL every October. But the thing is - Why? I mean, I support a family, work multiple jobs, have hobbies and duties with my Masonic Lodges. Yet on top of all of that, I don't find it at all difficult to check in to SPOTM every once in a while and say hi or clean up a little. So...Why not be even casually active with the moon, Dan?

Asher has a better point than mine, read his.
I'm starting to like Fake Dan (Asher) more than Real Dan.

Those who saw this coming, raise your hands.
K, now could we all agree that this is entirely his decision and just say goodbye?

^I must admit I didn't expect him to actually make a video like this one =P
If you mean that it is his decision to finally adress us and leave for good, then yes, it is, OK, I'm fine with that. But it's only that he also made this thread and apologized to us, so it's also just fine to tell him what we think about the video and about how he managed things in the past, because that, even if, yes, his decision, affected us. Btw, even with all that, I'm honestly grateful to Dan for starting this community (not so much for the rest), and subsequently I thank him, but even more so, I thank SPOTM for the good time I've had here and the things I've learnt, goodbye Dan, goodbye indeed. See you on the tubes, I suppose.
