I've had personal experiences with both Mac and PC, and I prefer Mac all the way. My HP desktop was slow, got many viruses, wasn't user friendly, had no good photo application, and no good video application. I love Macs because Apple has possibly the greatest customer support out of any company period. Any time I've had a problems with my laptop, ipod, etc. I can easily make an appointment and I've never walked out of one disappointed/confused/angry. They always seem to resolve issues. My Macbook has never gotten a virus, and doesn't have to do annoying Norton AntiVirus scans that slow down the computer every day (like I did with my old HP). Mac software is superior to PC. iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band, iTunes, etc are all way better than the PC programs I was using. Now I am looking to upgrade to get more professional software, and it seems that Apple is making the industry standard with Final Cut Pro, Aperture, and Logic Pro. Mac OSX is way more user friendly than windows. I never understood why Microsoft thought Vista was so great even though most of their users were still using their 2001 XP model. I don't have too much experience with Windows 7, although from what I've seen so far it does not impress me compared to Snow Leopard. The Mac mail application is fairly simple, compared to outlook express which I attempted to use but very quickly switched back to GMail inbox when I used PC. Lastly, all I have to say is iPod vs. Zune. Apple dominates the MP3 market and their products sync well together and are meant to be paired with Mac computers. *whew* I know that was a lot but those are a few of my scattered thoughts on macs.... what do you guys think?

Ugh deja vu newschooled
If your getting a laptop, get a macbook pro... theyre amazing laptops and i really want one lol (wound up getting a dell for work on developing a vidja gaem for final year project)
If your getting a desktop and like customization, get a PC just for variety's sake.
But if you just want something that works right away (UGH SOOO BOORING) get a apple desktop.
if you want to just surf the internet and look at porn... get an ipad
if you want to look like a knob get an iphone
and if you want to get ripped off get an ipod!

But seriously NewSchooled, what were you running that fried Win7?? I don't think it's what I'm running as much as how much I'm running. I usually have so many design, video and server interface programs going at once that it makes a common gamer look like a preschooler. I also go through hardware on my work PC like water. (I use PC's at work, but Macs at home) Edit: To give credit where credit is due - Windows 7 is infinitely more stable than any previous version of windows.

I say PC because it is compatible with everything, cost less, and has double click. I do like however how in Macs the computer and monitor are together.

Logic Pro? Aperture? Garage Band? the entire iWork suite for that matter? I realize there is much more software for PCs out there but it all comes down to quality vs. quantity. Apple makes industry standard software for their products, and in my opinion they are the best hardware AND software makers out there.

The iLife suite and Final Cut are only compatible with Mac. The iLife suite are top of the line recreational programs, but not professional programs. iMovie is comparible to it's PC equivalent Adobe Premier. Premier isn't as widely used in the industry though, due to the fact that Mac OS in general is much more stable than any windows platform to date.

I recently ordered an HP ProBook 4710s. It's a fantastic machine.
The computer tech I bough it from calls them "magic laptops", and, based on everything I've seen them do - I'm inclined to believe him.
And, given the price vs what you get for it - it's a much better deal then a macbook that can match it.
...actually - I popped over to the Apple store - they CAN'T match the specs I'm getting =/

The thing about macbooks though and why theyre better than p much every laptop out there is that they last forever and have a very low performance decrease over time than other laptops.
The fact that they have a unibody means u can just slap it on your lap instead of worrying about your fans messing it up.
Specs are irrelevant when talking about macbooks, only if you need something mega specific (like me with my speakers for laptop which happen to SHIRT all over anything mac has atm) but if your looking for something to just chill on, play a couple games, carry it around and take it out all over the place... get a mac theyre just better that way. Their build quality for laptops is second to none.
And just keep in mind that im a PC user all the way but the quality of macbooks cant be ignored. Also the new laptops are the best out there atm with a great graphics card and fantastic sandy bridge cpu.... for 15 inch anyway
that being said the 13 inch in this range of macbooks can be missed because of their bad screen (their waiting for retina display to upgrade them) and integrated graphics.
