I saw this one first. It doesn't really matter which one was made first, it's just a way to focus the discussion. But yeah, sorry. D; This was just the one I saw with a video already attached and yadda yadda yadda, so it seemed like a good choice.

Hey guys, I’m Gary baker. Now the first time I watched Dan’s new video “Tea Time” I was like, wow Dan, really? But after watching it two or three times I understand what he’s saying, and more importantly I understand what he’s doing. What Dan is doing is showing us how religions are created, and how they evolve. Think of it this way, we’re going back in time, 2010 years. I’m sitting outside playing with rocks or what ever they did back then. When my friend Dan runs up to me, he said “I just came from the wheat field and guess what?!?!” “what?” I say, curious why my friend is so exited. that’s when he tells me the story, the same EXACT story he told in his video (minus the computer and everything) and I go home, tell my family, my friends, and some time later my kids. And all those people tell their kids, and their kids, and their kids, and so on. And along the way things change, words get added and subtracted. Like when he said “ I turned around and saw a bright light, not really a bright light, but figuratively a bright light.” in time that figuratively would disappear. Don’t you think it’s possible at first that Christianity was considered weird, crazy even? Think of modern religions, like Scientology. The religion that says aliens put us in volcanoes and when they erupted we were thrown on the Earth’s surface as humans? Crazy right? So if Dan did this 2010 years ago, there is a chance most of us would be worshiping the flying spaghetti monster as a god and Sarah Palin as the messiah. G. D. Baker Poe's Law on this. First of all Dan had nice timing with 420 tommorow and I do get it. But for the people who are unsubscribing and all that, I think Dan should make a video explaning himself, which I expect to be Fridays video. I think he is also tryng to seperate out the zombies. Zombies would unsubscribe because his video requires thought which they don't have. Anyway, I hope that he doesn't lose too many viewers. (btw how did he make it so his vid didn't have ads?) Only partners have ads in the first place. They choose whether or not the ads are there on each video. They only make money from their videos if the ads are there. Anyone who isn't a partner has no ads at all on the video. (This only refers to the pop-over ads on the videos themselves.)

I was actually concerned about Dan falling to the "dark side" during the first few minutes, however when he started praising the Flying Spaghetti Monster and his "noodly appendages", I actually burst out laughing! The icing on the cake, however, are the people taking his video to seriously. Taking offense to it in some way or another. I'm still not sure what his actual point is, though. It's too cryptic. I took it either as a stance against organized religion, a creationist bashing or, as it was previously mentioned, a video denouncing "zombies". Can't wait for Friday's video!

I personally think he's weeding out all the zombies from the tribe. But isn't that against our values?

I was expecting: a 10 min video which would inform me on dans views of the tea party, which would be (as in his other videos) constructive even if he is trying to critize the tea party movement.
What I got: a sarcastic 10 min video which tells me that not only is he against palin and the movement but too much to explain it (as he does in his other videos) resorting to sarcasm which leads to nowhere as such.
To all does talking about being a zombie, as Dan mentions in the videos a lot of Democrats thin that Sarah palin/the tea party movement are idiots.. that is (what I think) he is trying to bring out through the video. Exposing how tea party protesters are 'zombies'.
The zombies argument is a double edged argument, in the sense that by posting this sarcastic video Dan is also a zombie following up on calling plain/protesters idiots.

My first thought when I saw the video was that he was trying to demonstrate how we shouldn't follow him blindly and be a zombie, and I just think this is such a brilliant way to, for want of a different expression, weed out all the zombies. I think the Tea Time video is so clever and I absolutley cannot wait until fridays video. Kadie x

Holy Sarah Palin says that the founding fathers weren't into the separation of church and state. FSM has sent Sarah to be our mythbuster so that we can know how this country really got started. Thank you FSM. Ramen.

I think it might be a part of his secret project. If the mainstream media notices (Dan is probably working on this) It is sure to get real attention for the tribe

My thoughts on Dan's video: I think it's an interesting turn for him, and the main reason so many are put off by it is because we're so used to him being straight with us that it's hard to take satire the right way when he does it. Dan has an established modus operandi of presenting the facts and his opinion as they are, so when he strays from this it's no surprise that it's met with confusion and rejection. I think this new style could work for Dan, it's just that his audience needs some time to warm up to it. He may lose some viewers in the process, but if he wants to keep moving in this direction I have no problem with it. They're his videos and he can do whatever he wants with them.
My thoughts on the Tea Party: The basic motives of the Tea Party are not what I have offense with (anti-stimulus, -deficit, and -bailout), it's the majority of the people following the movement. These people tend to be "white, male, married and older than 45", so we can already easily guess that they are a very conservative group. I am generally liberal and progressive in my political views, so their positions clash with mine more often than not. Many of these supporters are simply zombies, eating whatever opinions Fox News (mainly the opinion shows, such as Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly) feeds them and regurgitating it at the protests without really knowing what they are saying. For an example, a college-age woman was interviewed by a YouTube vlogger on why she was against the current administration, and she said that they threaten our freedoms; when asked to elaborate, all she came up with was that they are threatening our freedom of speech (without supporting this opinion) and she stuttered for the rest of her answer, unable to come up with anything else. In my experience, many Tea Party supporters are also racist, homophobic, or both. I take offense to these attitudes, as they are extremely judgmental and damaging to society.

I am unsubscribing. I am extremely disappointed with Dan. I had always thought of him as an intelligent person, regardless of his point of view being different from mine. However, I can't accept what he has just done.
I have been a Pastafarian for a long time now. For years I have embraced our Noodly Lord's teachings, and I have followed his path of enlightment and meatballs. Before being touched by His Noodly appendage, my life was empty and meaningless, but now I am a good person, willing to spread His knowledge.
Dan has just used our religion as a joke. He has disrespected the Flying Spaghetti Monster's ways greatly. I can't believe that he has shown such a lack of respect for the world's only true religious belief. May his meatballs forever be sour.
Ramen.

Hi everyone. My first post so go easy on me.
So I watched the "Tea Time" video last night right before the live show. Now being Canadian the whole tea party movement doesn't really mean much to me but I do know of Sarah Palin because she has been in the news so much lately with people talking about how much money she has made since elections and resigning. From what I understand its either you love her or you hate her. Now the FSM(Flying Spaghetti Monster) I have come across on many occasions on the interwebs and didn't really know the source but upon watching the video immediately wanted to know more. Using the links Dan provided I checked out both the Wiki and the actual site and using some internet magic managed to get my hands a copy of the real Bobby Henderson - The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Great book from what I have read so far. I find it fun because like Dan's video's can be fun and still bring up real facts or guess in the case of this book lacking of facts (to theories that people teach as proven when they are in fact not).
Now I know Dan is getting a lot of flack for this video. Some people think that this is a test to the POGOTRIBE to re-enforce the "Please Don't Be A Zombie" or PDBAZ principals brought up from the Open letter to the An Open Letter to Educators discussions. Some people really think that Dan believes he saw the FSM. Some people think he's high as a kite and some people just think its funny and entertaining. Some of the people upset with this latest video have even gone as far as to unsubscripted from his channel.
Now I like to be entertained and this video ranks as entertaining (although not my favorite) and I also like relevant and engaging topics. Just think of all of the fun debates you can have over FSM. There is no evidence it doesn't exist so why couldn't it. Still seems like a safer religion than Scientology where they believe that Xenu the galactic warlord brought billions of people to earth 75 million years ago, stacked their dead bodies around volcano's and blew then up with hydrogen bombs and that it is the souls of those people that have attached themselves to us that causes all of our bad thoughts and emotions. Now I'm sure I'll probably get some hate mail about that but I'm not trying to say either is bad, wrong or better then the other. The only thing I'm saying is to each their own.
I think I've gone on long enough so I'm going to end this here.
P.S. I leave you with a quote and for the one who knows where it comes from I'll give my billion imaginary dollars to.
"The lie that is known to be a lie is half eradicated. But the lie that even intelligent persons regard as a sacred fact, the lie that has been inculcated around a mother's knee - is more dangerous to contend against than a creeping pestilence."

I am sorry dan, but you have lost all of my respect in this video that you posted. I am not a zombie dan, I will not make a video of me dropping to my knees praising Sarah Palin of all people!
The FSM is a joke, it is a joke of God and religion. All dan is telling us is that we should not be zombies and follow him blindly. He is trying to see how many people blindly do what he says and then if he gets a lot of response, than he will use it against us!
Finally, if this gets too far out of hand, I am going to flip! We have to stop this joke before it gets too out of hand. He is insulting about 5 billion people in the world who are aligned with a major religion. He is saying that God should be replaced by a pice of boiled whole grain!
I am not a zombie dan and I stick to rule #7, I stick true to my ideals

If anything, he is using the FSM to illustrate how anyone in a position of power can, if they have the inclination, get a group of people to conform to what they say without questioning. This is the same that's happening with quite a number of the Tea Party supporters, and he's encouraging his viewers to investigate what people (including him) tell them instead of just following them blindly. In short, he's re-iterating his creed of PDBAZ with satire.
